WO Donna Mae Forster
1. Donna Forster joined the CF in January 1987, yes it was that long ago. The call came in December 1986 that a spot was available for her to enroll in Jan the next year. This prompted the now infamous wedding proposal from her suave Cpl husband Rene, “I guess we should get married”. Cornwallis in the winter is a joy to behold for sure, but the little 5’2” stubble hopper from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan persevered and finished in March. After some OJT and her course in Borden, she was posted to CFB Moose Jaw to rejoin her husband. She started her family there with son Alexander in December 1989 and daughter Amanda in December 1991, as well bought their first home and lived the life of Riley till the sudden posting shock to CFB Petawawa in 1994.
2. 2 Service Battalion would be home for the next eight years. Watching the army being trucked into the field while she, as an MSE OP, walked in snow shoes made her all the happier when her husband saved her with a posting to 14 Wing Greenwood in 2002. The valley would be home for six years, when Rene again was posted, and then MCpl Forster was along for the ride to 8 Wing Trenton.
3. She found herself at Wing transport in her first real supervisory position. This of course let her finally get her 10 year safe driving pin, as her on the road shenanigans had prevented that streak from being established earlier. A promotion to Sgt soon followed as did a posting to CJIRU. While there she was promoted to WO and she soon found herself posted back to 8 Wing transport.
4. Due to some medical issues, WO Forster received news that she would be medically released and has since moved to Transition Group (JPSU) in October of 2017. This allowed her to seek the medical treatments she needed to get better and to find her path to retirement. She will be released on 15 June 2019, after completing 32 1⁄2 years of distinguished service. Her retirement plans are to travel and just doing nothing sometimes. She volunteers at the MFRC daycare centre where she loves spending time with the 2-3 year-old group.

1. Donna Forster s’est enrôlée dans les forces armées canadiennes il y a très longtemps, en janvier 1987. En décembre 1986, elle a reçu un appel lui offrant de s’enrôler le mois suivant. Cela poussa son charmant René de lui faire la demande en mariage la plus romantique qui soit: “J’image qu’on devrait se marier”. Être à Cornwallis en hiver n’est certainement pas une des choses les plus agréables, mais la native de Moose Jaw, du haut de ses 5’2”, a fait preuve de persévérance et a terminé le cours en mars. À la suite de quelques FCE et son cours à Borden, elle pu finalement rejoindre son mari à Moose Jaw. Ils se sont achetés leur première maison et ils ont fondé une famille avec la naissance de leur fils Alexander en décembre 1989 et de leur fille Amanda en décembre 1991. Ils faisaient la belle vie jusqu’à ce qu’ils reçoivent une mutation choc à BFC Petawawa en 1994.
2. Le 2e Bataillon des services a été leur chez-soi pendant les huit prochaines années, où elle a pu observer les membres de l’armée de terre se faire amener en camion au champ, pendant qu’elle, une Chauf MR, avait la chance de marcher en raquette. À sa grande joie, ils ont été mutés à la 14e Escadre à Greenwood en 2002. Ils y sont restés pendant six ans, pour ensuite suivre son mari à la 8e Escadre à Trenton.
3. C’est à la section de transport de l’escadre qu’elle a pu avoir son premier vrai poste de superviseur. Cela lui a aussi finalement permit de recevoir son épinglette soulignant 10 ans de conduite prudente, étant donné que ses aventures sur la route l’avait empêchées de la recevoir plus tôt. Une promotion au grade de sergent s’ensuivit, ainsi qu’une mutation à l’UIIC. De là, elle a été promue adjudant et retourna à la section de transport de la 8e escadre.
4. En octobre 2017, l’adj Forster a été transférée à l’UISP quand elle a appris qu’elle allait être libérée pour raisons médicales. Cela lui a permis de recevoir les traitements médicaux dont elle avait besoin. Elle prendra sa retraire le 15 juin 2019, après 32 1⁄2 ans de bons et loyaux services. Elle prévoit voyager et de faire gâter par son époux. Elle continuera également de faire du bénévolat à la garderie du CRFM où elle adore passer du temps avec le groupe des enfants de 2-3 ans.
5. Une cérémonie de départ dans la dignité aura lieu le 7 juin 2019 au restaurant Golden Valley à Trenton.
