Warrant Officer Marc Rivard

RivardWarrant Officer Marc Rivard will retire on July 30, 2021 after more than 33 years in the CAF.

Enrolled in February 1988 as a cook, Warrant Officer Rivard completed his basic training in St- Jean Quebec and did an OGT in the kitchen at 17 Wing Winnipeg, Manitoba before completing his trade course at CFSAL Borden. In October 1989, Warrant Officer Rivard received his first posting to CFB Esquimalt.

In October 1991, after completing his QL5 course as a cook, he was posted to the 5th Canadian Service Battalion Service Company in Valcartier as a corporal. In July 1995, he was posted to 22 Wing North Bay where, from May to November 1997, he served on Task Force Golan as a second line cook. He then participated in OP ECHO Task Force Aviano from July 2000 to January 2001.

After completing his QL6A in February 2005, he was promoted to Master Corporal and posted to the 1st Royal Canadian Battalion in Petawawa. Transferred to 2 Royal Battalion 22 from July 2005 to August 2007, he was then sent to 19 Wing Comox from 2007 to 2010. Promoted to Sergeant he was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake.

Transferred to CFSAL Borden, Ontario from October 2011 to February 2012 as an instructor in the kitchen section, Warrant Officer Rivard was subsequently posted to CFB Kingston as a kitchen manager from July 2012 to 2016.

Promoted to Warrant Officer in 2016, he was then posted to 2 Wing as the Chief Cook until August 2020, when he became the 2 Wing Mission Support Squadron Training Coordinator.

Married to Rachelle Philippe since August 1990 and father of two children, Jean-Patrick (26), a civilian cook in Kingston, and Claudiane (22), a student in Alma Quebec, Warrant Officer Marc Rivard will leave the CAF on July 30, 2021 to accept a position as a civilian employee in the National Capital Region.

To mark his exceptional career, a private ceremony will be held on July 16 at CFB Bagotville.

L’adjudant Marc Rivard CD2 prendra sa retraite le 30 juillet 2021 après plus de 33 années au sein des FAC.

Enrôlé en février 1988 en tant que cuisinier, l’adjudant Rivard termine sa formation de base à Saint-Jean Québec et fait un OGT à la cuisine de la 17e Escadre de Winnipeg au Manitoba pour ensuite compléter son cours de métier à CFSAL Borden. En octobre 1989, l’adjudant Rivard reçoit sa première mutation à la base d’Esquimalt.

En octobre 1991, après avoir complété son cours de QL 5 comme cuisinier, il est muté à la compagnie de service du 5e bataillon de service du Canada à Valcartier en tant que caporal. En juillet 1995, il est affecté à la 22e escadre à North Bay où, de mai à novembre 1997, il fait partie du ‘’Task force’’ Golan, comme cuisinier de deuxième ligne. Il participe ensuite à l’OP ÉCHO Task force Aviano de juillet 2000 à janvier 2001.

Après avoir complété son QL 6A en février 2005, il est promu Cplc chef et affecté au
1er bataillon royal canadien à Petawawa. Muté au 2e bataillon royal 22e de juillet 2005 à août 2007, il est par la suite muté à la 19e escadre à Comox de 2007 à 2010. Promu sergent, on l’affecte à la 4e escadre à Cold Lake.

Muté à CFSAL Borden en Ontario d’octobre 2011 février 2012 comme instructeur à la section des cuisines, l’adjudant Rivard reçoit par la suite une affectation à la BFC Kingston comme gestionnaire de cuisine de juillet 2012 à 2016.

Promu adjudant, en 2016 il est finalement muté à la 2e escadre comme chef cuisiner jusqu’en août 2020 pour ensuite occupé le poste de coordonnateur d’entraînement du 2e Escadre, Escadron de support de Mission.

Marié avec Rachelle Philippe depuis août 1990 et père de deux enfants, Jean-Patrick (26 ans), cuisinier civil à Kingston et Claudiane (22 ans), étudiante à Alma Québec, l’adjudant Marc Rivard quittera définitivement les FAC le 30 juillet 2021 pour accepter un poste en tant qu’employé civil dans la région de la capitale nationale.

Afin de souligner sa carrière exceptionnelle, une cérémonie privée sera organisée le 16 juillet à BFC Bagotville.
