Warrant Officer BILL DYER CD, 00168, Supply Technician

  1. After 36 yrs of dedicated service, Warrant Officer Bill Dyer will be retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) effective 15 January 2018.
  2. WO Dyer enrolled in the CAF in May 1981 with 3 Field Engineer Regiment in Montreal. An amazing experience building bridges and blowing them up. After serving 5 yrs, Bill transferred over to the Regular Force in June 1986, although the 1st yr was with the forsaken YTEP Program. Upon completion of his Basic Trg in Cornwallis and QL3 Supply Tech course in Borden, he was posted to Directorate Procurement Supply Aerospace(DPSA) in Ottawa and then posted over to CFB Ottawa (Uplands) in 1987 in time to start the new DEU uniform issue. After 6 yrs, a deployment to the Golan Heights (UNDOF) which was an experience of a lifetime, and getting married to Connie, Bill was posted in 1993 to CFS St. John’s, NFLD. In 1997, Bill was posted to LDSH(RC) in Edmonton, participating in several exercises in Wainwright and Suffield followed by a posting to 1 PPCLI in 1999, mentored by an excellent TQ, Sgt Darlene Simms. In 2000, he received his last posting to Petawawa where he served with 2 GS BN, working in Clothing and MLBU, 1 RCR as the spare parts supervisor, RCD as the TQ and 2 SVC BN in numerous position from LBD, CQ, Ops WO and finally carpenter’s assistant. A memorable posting; going to the G8 Summit in Kananakis, Alberta, several exercises back at Wainwrigt, Alberta, Texas and California, completing NATO tours in VK, Bosnia in 2003, Kabul, Afghanistan in 2004/5 moving into Kandahar, and a second Kandahar, Afghanistan tour in 2010.
  3. Bill will be completing a 12 week Craftsman course in September at Rosewood Studio in Perth as part of his Voc Rehab and VRPSM where he plans to put in practice upon retirement.
  4. Bill will be moving to his new home in Burton, NB to spend time with Connie and son, Adam. He plans on several return trips to Petawawa, but only to visit his daughter Robyn residing in Petawawa. Bill plans on taking time to explore some woodwork projects to keep busy and do some travelling.

ADJUDANT BILL DYER CD, 00168, TECHNICIEN D’APPROVISIONNEMENT

  1. Apres 36 années de service dévoué, Adjudant Bill Dyer prendra sa retraite des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC) effective le 15 janvier 2018.
  2. Adj Dyer s’est inscrit dans les forces en mai 1981 avec la Réserve du 3ème Régiment d’Ingénieur de Campagne à Montréal. Une expérience incroyable de construction et de destruction de ponts en les faisant exploser. Après avoir servi 5 ans dans la réserve, Bill a transféré dans la Force régulière en juin 1986, bien que la 1ère année était avec le programme YTEP. À la suite de sa formation élémentaire à Cornwall et son cours de QL3 pour Technicien en Approvisionnement à Borden, il a été muté à Directorate Procurement Supply Aerospace (DPSA) à Ottawa puis a été muté à la BFC Ottawa (Uplands) en 1987, en temps pour commencer la nouvelle distribution des uniformes DEU. Après 6 ans, un déploiement au Golan Heights (UNDOF) qui était une expérience incroyable, et se marier avec Connie, Bill a été muté à LDSH (RC) à Edmonton, a participé à plusieurs exercises, à Wainwright et à Suffield, suivi d’une mutation au 1 PPCLI en 1999, encadré par une excellente TQ, Sgt Darlene Simms. En 2000, il a reçu sa dernière mutation à Petawawa, où il a servi avec 2 GS BN, où il travaillait en Clothing et MLBU, 1RCR comme superviseur de pièces, RCD comme le TQ et 2 SVC BN en plusieurs position de LBD, CQ, Adj d’Ops, et finalement assistant charpentier. Une mutation mémorable; participer au Sommet du G8 à Kananakis, en Alberta, effectuer plusieurs exercices à Wainwright, en Alberta, au Texas et en Californie, terminer des rotations avec l’OTAN à VK en Bosnie en 2003, à Kaboul en Afghanistan en 2004/2005, et une deuxième rotation à Kandahar en Afghanistan en 2010.
  3. Bill terminera un cours de Craftsman de 12 semaines en septembre au Rosewood Studio à Perth dans le cadre de son Voc Rehab et VRPSM où il prévoit de mettre en pratique à la retraite.
  4. Bill déménagera dans sa nouvelle maison à Burton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, pour passer du temps avec Connie et son fils, Adam. Il prévoit effectuer plusieurs voyages de retour à Petawawa, pour rendre visite à sa fille Robyn. Bill prévoit prendre le temps d’explorer quelques projets de menuiserie pour se tenir occupé et voyager.
