SGT RODNEY TRAVIS MACPHERSON, CD 00164 AIR FORCE
Sgt Rodney Travis Macpherson will be retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces on 15 February 2023 after 22 and a half years of Loyal and dedicated service to Canada and the Logistics Branch.
Sgt Macpherson enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on the 12th of December 2000 in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His first stop was CFLRS St. Jean QC, then to Borden Ont. to CFSAL for his trades training. His first posting was to 14 Wing Greenwood, NS, here he completed his OJT, and was tasked out to OP Apollo as a cook in March of 2003, too support South West Asia Task Force in 2004 Sgt Macpherson completed his Journeyman QL5A course. In January of 2005 was promoted to the rank of Cpl also in 2005 Sgt Macpherson Deployed to Afghanistan Roto 1 for a 6 month deployment. In June of 2008 was promoted to the rank of MCpl. 2008 also marked a posting to 2RCR in Oromocto, NB while spending a 6 years stint with the Royal Canadian Regiment before moving over to 5 CDSB Gagetown in the Spring of 2012 working at H33 the main Kitchen on Base. 2015 Travis was promoted to the rank of Sgt, and in March of 2015 was posted to 37 Svc Battalion into the Chief Cook Position. Following that was posted to CFB Halifax as the IC Production in A Galley. He went on to Shearwater where he was the KO. A final move returned him where he started his career to 14 Wing Greenwood in the summer of 2018.
Travis, plans on retiring in NS, with his wife Cheryl, of 31 years. Travis plans of spending his time relaxing and enjoying time with his Kids Brandon and Bailey and their Dog Ryker. He looks forward to travelling to Cape Breton to see his family any time he likes.
A retirement function will be held in DEUs at the tow bar at the Annapolis Mess on 13 February 2023 from 1500-1700. Le 15 février 2023, le Sgt Rodney Travis Macpherson prendra sa retraite des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC), après 22 ans et demi de bons et loyaux services rendus au Canada et au Service de la logistique.
Le 12 décembre 2000, le Sgt Macpherson s’enrôle dans les FAC à Sydney, au Cap-Breton, en Nouvelle-Écosse. Son premier arrêt est à l’École de leadership et de recrues des Forces canadiennes à St. Jean, au Québec, puis il se rend ensuite au Centre d’instruction de logistique des Forces canadiennes pour suivre son instruction professionnelle. Sa première affectation est à la 14e Escadre Greenwood, en Nouvelle-Écosse, où il effectue sa formation en cours d’emploi. En en mars 2003, il participe à l’Op APOLLO comme cuisiner pour appuyer la Force opérationnelle interarmées de l’Asie du Sud-Ouest. En 2004, le Sgt Macpherson termine son cours de compagnon de NQ5A. En janvier 2005, il est promu au grade de caporal, et en 2005, il participe à un déploiement de six mois en Afghanistan avec la ROTO 1. En juin 2008, il est
promu au grade de caporal-chef et muté au 2e Bataillon, The Royal Canadian Regiment, à Oromocto, au Nouveau-Brunswick, et y demeure pendant 5 ans. Au printemps 2012, il est affecté à la Base de soutien de la 5e Division du Canada Gagetown, où il travaille dans la cuisine principale de la base, qui se situe dans le bâtiment H33. En 2015, Travis est promu au grade de sergent, puis en mars 2015, il est affecté au 37e Bataillon des services, à titre de chef cuisiner. Ensuite, il est muté à la Base des Forces canadiennes Halifax comme responsable de la production dans une cuisine. Par la suite, il est affecté à Shearwater comme officier de cuisine. À l’été 2008, dans le cadre de sa dernière affectation, il se rend où il a commencé sa carrière, c’est-à-dire à la 14e Escadre Greenwood.
Travis prévoit prendre sa retraite en Nouvelle-Écosse avec son épouse, Cheryl. Ils sont mariés depuis 31 ans. Travis veut prendre le temps de relaxer et s’amuser avec ses enfants, Brandon et Bailey, et leur chien, Ryker. Il a hâte de se rendre au Cap-Breton pour rendre visite à sa famille quand il le voudra.
