1. PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS STEWART MORRIS, AFTER COMPLETING 33 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA AND THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, WILL RETIRE ON 11 APRIL 2022.
2. PO2 MORRIS JOINED THE 2ND BATTALION, THE NOVA SCOTIA HIGHLANDERS (CAPE BRETON) ON 24 OCTOBER 1988 AS AN INFANTEER. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRADES TRAINING INFANTRYMAN, HE COMPLETED A REMUSTER FROM INFMN TO R831 ADMIN CLERK IN MAY 1991 AND REMAINED WITH 2NSH (CB). IT WAS FROM THIS POINT THAT HE EMBARKED ON HIS CAREER JOURNEY IN THE CLERK TRADE COMPLETING NUMEROUS CLASS B TASKINGS IN THE TRADE THROUGHOUT THE COMING YEARS. IN 1997, HE ACCEPTED A CLASS B WITH 45 FIELD ENGINEER SQUADRON IN SYDNEY AS THEIR OR CLERK AND REMAINED THERE UNTIL 2000. DURING THIS TIME, HE MET AND RETAINED LIFE LONG FRIENDS THAT HE CONSIDERS FAMILY AND HAD THE HONOUR OF LOWERING THE ENGINEER FLAG AT THE OLD BUILDING FOR THE LAST TIME IN VICTORIA PARK, AS THEY TRANSITIONED TO THE NEW BUILDING. IN 2000, HE ACCEPTED ANOTHER CLASS B POSN WITH 721 COMM TROOP IN GLACE BAY AND WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF MCPL. THIS UNIT HELD A SPEACIAL PLACE FOR HIM AS IT WAS IN THE BUILDING HE ENROLLED IN AND HE WAS WORKING WITH PEERS THAT HE JOINED WITH. IN 2003, HE RETURNED TO 45 FIELD ENGINEER SQUADRON, LATER RENAMED TO 36 COMBAT ENGINEER REGIMENT ON CLASS B AND WAS LATER PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SGT IN 2008 AS THE FIN SGT FOR THE
UNIT. IN 2010, STEWART COMPLETED A COMPONENT TRANSFER TO THE REG FORCE NAVY AS A PO2 ASSUMING THE POSN OF CHIEF CLERK OF 36 COMBAT ENGINEER REGIMENT IN SYDNEY AND SETTING UP THE NEW ORDERLY ROOM IN SHEARWATER. IN 2013, HE WAS POSTED TO 36 COMBAT ENGINEER REGIMENT HQ IN SHEARWATER WHERE HE REMAINED UNTIL BEING POSTED TO CFB HALIFAX STAD PAY AND RECORDS IN 2014 AS PAY AND RCDS SUPR. IN APRIL 2016, STEWART WAS POSTED TO HMCS MONTRÉAL AND THEN HMCS HALIFAX IN JAN 2017 AS THE SENIOR PAYWRITER/CASHIER. IN JUL 2017, HE WAS POSTED UNACCOMPANIED TO HIS FINAL DESTINATION, THE TORONTO SCOTTISH REGIMENT AS THE CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINSITRATOR. HE REMAINED WITH THE TORONTO SCOTTISH REGIMENT FOR 4.5 YEARS WHERE HE WAS TREATED LIKE FAMILY AND AT HOME BY ALL MEMBERS MAKING LIFE LONG FRIENDS. HE IS VERY PROUD TO SAY THAT HE STARTED AND ENDED HIS CAREER WITH TWO AWESOME INFANTRY UNITS.
3. PO2 MORRIS IS GRATEFUL FOR THE EXPERIENCES, LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS AND MEMORIES SHARED WITH THE MANY PEOPLE OVER HIS PAST 33 PLUS YEARS. HE IS GRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE, SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT FROM HIS WIFE SGT (RET’D) TERRI LYNN MORRIS. STEWART WILL BE RETIRING IN THE LOWER SACKVILLE AREA WITH HIS WIFE AND FURBABIES. HE PLANS ON SETTING UP A GARDEN AND SEE WHERE RETIREMENT TAKES HIM NEXT.
