MWO STEEVE PERRON, MB, CD, -00168-01, SUP TECH
1. MWO STEEVE PERRON WILL RETIRE ON 7 FEBRUARY 2019 AFTER MORE THAN 32 YEARS OF SERVICE WITHIN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES.
2. HE JOINED THE CAF AS A SUPPLY TECHNICIAN ON 14 JULY 1986 AND BEGAN HIS BASIC TRAINING IN ST-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU. IN SEPTEMBER OF THE SAME YEAR, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL TO ENHANCE HIS ENGLISH PROFICIENCY.
3. ONCE HIS QL3 TRAINING WAS COMPLETED, HE WAS POSTED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN JULY 1987 TO 5 SVC BN IN VALCARTIER.
4. AFTER 5 YEARS OF PARTICIPATING IN REGULAR EXERCISES SUCH AS WAINWRIGHT 89 AND 92 GAGETOWN 88, 90, 91 AND OPERATION SALON (OKA-90), HE LEFT FOR BAGOTVILLE IN 1992 WHERE THE DEPLOYMENTS AND EXERCISES WERE LESS FREQUENT.
5. IN THE SUMMER OF 1997, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO 25 CANADIAN FORCES SUPPLY DEPOT IN MONTREAL WHERE HE WAS EMPLOYED IN THE SECTIONS OF: MATERIAL SELECTION (60 ‘) AND RECEIPT AND SHIPPING.
6. IN JUNE 2000, HE WAS POSTED WITHIN THE SAME AREA TO 3 CANADIAN SUPPORT GROUP WHERE HE WAS DEPLOYED MANY TIMES SUCH AS; BOSNIA (4X), ERITREA, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, AFGHANISTAN AND HAITI. IN 2003, HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF MCPL AND RECEIVED THE MEDAL OF BRAVERY FOR SAVING CHILDREN FROM DROWNING. POSTED IN AUG 2005 TO MONTREAL, HE WORKED AS THE WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR AT THE CLOTHING SECTION.
7. NEWLY PROMOTED TO SGT IN 2006, HE LEFT FOR THE ST-JEAN GARRISON WHERE HE ALSO UNDERTOOK THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLOTHING WAREHOUSE MANAGER, CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FRONT COUNTER.
8. PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF WARRANT OFFICER IN 2009, HE HEADED FOR THE HEALTH SERVICES GROUP HQ IN OTTAWA WHERE HE CHEERFULLY LANDED IN A POSITION WITH LOGISTICS OPERATIONS.
9. IN 2013, AT THE RANK OF MWO, HE JOINED THE CANADIAN FORCES LEADERSHIP AND RECRUIT SCHOOL AND OCCUPIED THE POSITION OF DIVISION SERGEANT MAJOR.
10. AFTER A BRIEF STINT AT 3 CSU FOR THE MAPLE RESOLVE EXERCISE, HE WAS POSTED IN 2015 FOR THE LAST TIME TO OTTAWA WITH DGMSSC WHERE HE WAS IN CHARGE OF MATERIEL AUTHORIZATIONS SECTION, DIRECTOR SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONS (DSCO) SERGEANT MAJOR AND WHERE HE DECIDED TO LEAVE MILITARY LIFE.
11. STEEVE WILL REMAIN IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION AND PLANS TO JOIN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.
12. A FAREWELL LUNCH WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE RESTAURANT L’AROME- HILTON LAC LEAMY ON 25 JANUARY 2019 AT NOON.
