MWO Martin Milot
After over 25 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), MWO Martin Milot will be retiring on 3 November 2021.
MWO Milot joined the CAF in 1995, as a reserve artillery gunner with the 62 RAC in Shawinigan Qc. After deploying on Op Recuperation for the Quebec ice storm in 1998, he joined the Regular Force and was posted to 5 RALC in ValCartier. He occupied various positions from gunner, to driver to unit ammo rep where he first made contact with the Ammunition Technician (AT) world. During his stay with 5 RALC, he also deployed to Bosnia in 2002.
In 2003, Martin requested a VOT to return to school at CFLTC for 16 months to become an AT. He was then posted to Gagetown NB in 2004. During this posting, he participated in several major exercises in Canada and abroad as well as 2 deployments of 8 and 9 months in Afghanistan. Having developed a particular interest in the world of conventional and improvised Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD), he also passed several advanced courses in this field. In 2010, he was posted to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineers (CFSME) as an Improvised Explosives Device Disposal (IEDD) instructor. In addition to his daily instructor duties, he completed several advanced courses on homemade level 3 explosives and X-Ray.
Promoted to WO in 2013, Martin is posted to the Munition and Explosive Test Center (METC) in ValCartier. He took part in several trials and tests during which he developed an interest in the world of research. In 2016, he is once again posted to CFLTC as the Standards WO for a short 1 year stay. Promoted to the rank of MWO in 2017, he sees himself transferred back to CFSME Gagetwon as the EOD Instruction Squadron Sergeant Major. His dedication and rigor at work earned him the honor of the Order of the Pukka Sapper, the highest distinction that can be awarded by the Military Combat Engineer (CME) to a person not belonging to the CME family. He would then be posted for the last time in 2019 to end his military career as the senior AT within the 5 Service Battalion in ValCartier.
Martin will continue to serve DND as a civilian since he has accepted a position with public service as a munitions research technologist at the Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC) in ValCartier. There he will make good use of the experience and interest acquired during his military career.
A departure with dignity will be held in January in order to present and hand over numerous certificates and gifts to underline his long military career. For those who would be interested in participating or sending funny anecdotes or photos, please contact WO D. Desbiens.
Après plus de 25 ans de fidèles services aux Forces Armées Canadiennes (FAC), L’Adjum Martin Milot prendra sa retraite des FAC le 3 Novembre 2021.
Adjum Milot à joint les FAC en 1995 comme artilleur réserviste avec le 62 RAC de Shawinigan Qc. Après s’être déployé 3 mois sur l’Op Récupération pour la tempete de verglas au Qc en 1998, il joint la Force Régulière et est muté au 5 RALC à ValCartier. Il y occupa divers position allant de servant de pièces, chauffeur jusqu’à représentant de munition d’Unité, d’où son premier contact avec le monde des techniciens de munition. Pendant son séjour au 5 RALC, il fut également déployé en Bosnie en 2002.
En 2003, Martin demanda son transfert occupationnel volontaire et retourna sur les bancs d’école de l’EALFC pendant 16 mois afin de devenir technicien de munition. Il fut ensuite muté à Gagetown NB en 2004. Pendant ce séjour, il prit part à plusieurs exercices d’envergure au Canada et à l’étranger ainsi que 2 déploiements de 8 et 9 mois en Afghanistan. Ayant développé un intérêt particulier pour le monde de la Neutralisation d’Explosifs et Munition (NEM) conventionnel et de circonstance, il réussit également plusieurs cours avancés en ce sens si bien qu’en 2010, il est muté l’École du Génie Militaire des Forces Canadienne (ÉGMFC) comme instructeur en Élimination de Dispositif Explosif de Circonstances (ÉDEC). En plus de ses taches d’instructeur journalière, il complète plusieurs cours de perfectionnement sur les explosifs fait maison niveau 3 et les X-Ray.
Promu au grade d’Adj en 2013, Martin se voit muté au Centre d’Expérimentation en Explosif et Munition (CEEM) de ValCartier. Il prit part à plusieurs essais et test varié et y développa un intérêt pour le monde de la recherche. En 2016, il retourne à l’EALFC comme Adj des normes pour une courte mutation d’un an. Promu au grade d’Adjum en 2017, il se voit muté de nouveau à l’ÉGMFC Gagetown, comme le Sergent Major de l’Escadron d’instruction NEM. Son dévouement et sa rigueur au travail lui a value l’honneur de l’Ordre du Sapeur Pukka, la plus haute distinction pouvant être décerné par le Génie Militaire de Combat (GMC) à une personne n’appartenant pas à la famille du GMC. Il sera ensuite muté pour une dernière fois en 2019 pour terminer sa carrière militaire comme technicien sénior des munitions au sein du 5 Bataillon des Services de ValCartier.
Martin continuera de servir le MDN comme civil puisqu’il a accepté un emploi de technologue de recherche en munition dans la fonction publique au sein du Centre de Recherche et Développement Défense Canada (RDDC) à ValCartier, ou il pourra mettre à profit l’expérience et intérêt acquis durant sa carrière militaire.
Un départ dans la dignité sera tenu en janvier, afin de présenter et remettre nombreux certificat et cadeaux pour souligner sa longue carrière militaire. Pour ceux qui serait intéresser à participer ou envoyer des anecdotes ou photos cocasse, prière de contacté l’Adj D. Desbiens.
