MWO KAREN CUMMINGS CD2, 00170, TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN
After 33 years of service MWO Karen Cummings will be retiring on the 6th of Nov 2018. MWO Cummings joined the CAF under the YTEP program in Aug 1985 as a Traffic Technician. Upon completion of Basic Training in Cornwallis NS, she spent time in CFB Borden and at CFSTM Edmonton where she conducted her QL3 Traffic Tech trg. Upon completion of her 3s she was posted to 3 Air Mov Unit Ottawa, ON.
In 1992 she was posted to 2 Air Mov Sqn Trenton, during her time there she deployed for six months in support of Op Mandarin – Croatia. In the summer of 1999 MWO Cummings was posted to J4 Mat in Ottawa. Where she enjoyed a very educational three years at NDHQ, but if you ask her, she will tell you that she definitely loved her lunch hours spent shopping at the Rideau Centre. In 2002 she was posted back to 2 Air Mov Sqn Trenton and deployed on several taskings to Camp Mirage, Afghanistan, Croatia & Alexandria, Louisiana. In 2009 MWO Cummings had the good fortune to be posted to the Canadian Forces Land Advanced Warfare Centre where she worked up until 2013.
Upon her promotion to her current rank MWO Cummings was posted back to 2 Air Mov Sqn Trenton (third times the charm). Karen has loved her time as a Traffic Technician and is very thankful for all the wonderful opportunities she’s had, all the experiences she’s had, as well as all the wonderful people she’s meet over the past 33 years. She will be retiring in this area with her husband Dave and is looking forward to all the upcoming adventures that life has to offer.

Après 33 années de service, Adjudant-Maître Karen Cummings prendra sa retraite le 6 novembre prochain. Adjum Cummings s’est joint aux FAC sous le programme d’instruction et d’emploi pour les jeunes (PIEJ) en août 1985 en tant que technicienne en mouvement. À la fin de sa formation de base à Cornwallis en Nouvelle-Écosse, elle est envoyée à la BFC Borden ainsi qu’à l’ETMFC (École du transport et des mouvements des Forces canadiennes) pour y compléter la formation de technicienne en mouvement QL3. Sa qualification QL3 terminée, elle est mutée à la 3e Unité des mouvements aériens de Ottawa, Ont.
En 1992, elle est affectée au 2e Escadron des mouvements aériens de Trenton où elle déploie pour une période de 6 mois en soutient à l’opération Mandarin – Croatie. À l’été 1999, l’Adjum Cummings est mutée à Ottawa comme J4 matériel où elle apprécie trois années très instructives au QGDN, mais si vous lui demandez, elle vous dira qu’elle a définitivement adoré ses heures de repas passées à magasiner au Centre Rideau. En 2002, elle est de nouveau mutée au 2e Escadron des mouvements aériens et déploie sur plusieurs missions au Camp Mirage, en Afghanistan, en Croatie et à Alexandria, en Louisiane. En 2009, l’Adjum Cummings a la chance d’être affecté au Centre de guerre terrestre avancée des Forces canadiennes où elle y travaille jusqu’en 2013.
Lors de sa promotion au grade actuel, Adjum Cummings est pour une troisième fois mutée au 2e Escadron des mouvements aériens à Trenton. Karen a aimé son temps en tant que technicienne des mouvements et est très reconnaissante pour toutes les merveilleuses opportunités et expériences qu’elle a vécues ainsi que toutes les personnes formidables qu’elle a rencontrées au cours des 33 dernières années. Elle prendra sa retraite dans la région en compagnie de son mari Dave et est impatiente de découvrir toutes les aventures que la vie lui réserve.
Il y aura un petit déjeuner informel de départ dans la dignité pour Adjum Karen Cummings et Adjum Donna Damaren à 0800 le jeudi 18 octobre 2018 à Eggsquis à Belleville.
