MWO Dan Ouellette
After more than 36 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces, Master
Warrant Officer (MWO) Dan Ouellette will retire from the CAF on 1 Feb 23.
Dan is from Dorchester, New Brunswick, he joined the reserve force in April 1986 as a member
of the Armoured Corps with 8 CH “C” Sqn Sackville NB until 1990. While serving with the
reserves, Dan completed his QL 3, AVGP Cougar Driver Wheel, AVGP Cougar Gunner, QL 4
Armd Recce, Combat Leaders Course (CLC), and Instructor Technique Course.
In July 1990, Dan got accepted into the Regular Force as an MSE Op. After completing his
trades training, he was posted to CFB North Bay, where he spent 6 great years performing
duties such as VIP tasking’s, driving the ROCC bus in the tunnel, worked in the heavy
equipment section, and finally working in the dispatch cell.
In July 1997, Dan’s next posting was to 2 Svc Bn Petawawa, during his time with the Bn, he
starting working in Adm Coy where he completed multiple POL taskings and instructing the
LFCA Driver Wheel courses as well as many field exercises. In 1998, Dan was transferred to
S&T Coy “A” Platoon and completed 3 deployments, 2 x Bosnia and 1 x Kabul Afghanistan.
On Promotion to MCpl in 2004, Dan was posted to CFSAL Borden, where he taught the BDT,
QL 3 and QL 5 Courses. While in Borden, he completed the Safety Supervisor and Air Brake
Instructor courses.
After 2 years in Borden, it was time to take on a new challenged as he accepted a posting back
to Petawawa in a safety sup position with CSOR, he deployed in 2007 with JTF Afghanistan.
On promotion to Sgt, he was shifted over to the CSOR recruiting cell and travelled the country
to brief CFBs on what and how CANSOFCOM works. After working in the recruiting cell for 2
yrs, Dan was sent to 1 Special Ops Coy as the Tpt Sgt. There were many challenges when
starting a new unit within CANSOFCOM, but at the end of the day, it turned out to be a
rewarding experience, working closely with soldiers and civilians from all walks of life.
In 2011, Dan was posted to LFCA TC Det Petawawa as the Trg Sgt overseeing multiple DDC,
Air Brake and Driver courses for 4 Div. He only spent 1 year with the TC, then he was posted to
21 EW Regt in Kingston in 2012 as the Tpt Sgt enforcing Tpt policies and Directives within the
Regt.
Dan did 2 years with 21 EW Regt, he was promoted to WO in 2014 and posted to CFJSR in
Kingston as the Log Tp WO, where he just had to walk across the shop floor to his new office.
While in CFJSR, he was responsible for the Tpt, Cook, Supply, and Traffic trades within the
Regt and ensured to fulfill CSS support duties in garrison and field exercises.
In 2018, Dan was promoted to MWO and sent to G4 Ops Army HQ in Ottawa as the Whole
Fleet Manger for the CAF SMP B Fleet.
Dan spent over 36 years working with and some of the most professional members of the CAF
and met lifelong friends along the way. He was fortunate to have been exposed to so many
different experiences, completed more courses and qualifications than he can remember and
has had the privilege of working for and with so many great mentors and mentees throughout
his years of service. There are so many people to mention and thank for his time in this great
institution of the CAF.
MWO Ouellette plans to return where it all began in New Brunswick specifically the Fredericton
Area and is looking forward to spending some well-earned time with his family. Dan chose not

Après plus de 36 ans de bons et loyaux services envers les Forces armées canadiennes,
l’adjudant-maître (adjum) Dan Ouellette prendra sa retraite des FAC sur le 1 Feb 23.
Dan est du pénitencier de Dorchester, au Nouveau-Brunswick, il s’est joint à la Force de
réserve en avril 1986 en tant que membre du corps blindé avec 8 CH escadron « C » Sackville
NB jusqu’en 1990. Bien que servir avec la réserve, Dan a terminé son NQ 3, VBP Cougar
conducteur roue, NQ 4 reco blindée, cours de chefs de combat (sic), et la technique de
l’instructeur du cours.
En juillet 1990, Dan a accepté dans la Force régulière comme un CEM op. après avoir terminé
sa formation dans les métiers, il a été affecté à la BFC North Bay, où il a passé six grands
dernières années dans l’exécution de tâches comme l’attribution des tâches du PAAC, le ROCC
autobus dans le tunnel, ont travaillé dans la section de l’équipement lourd et, enfin, travaillant
dans la cellule de répartition.
En juillet 1997, Dan sa prochaine affectation était de 2 Bon Svc Petawawa, durant son temps
avec le ne, il commence à la Cie des SMA, où il a terminé de multiples tâches POL et enseigner
la SCFT roue de conduire des cours ainsi que de nombreux exercices sur le terrain. En 1998,
Dan a été transféré à la Cie S & T « a » du peloton et terminés trois déploiements, 2 x en
Bosnie et 1 x à Kaboul en Afghanistan.
Sur la promotion au grade de cplc en 2004, Dan a été affecté à l’EALFC Borden, où il a
enseigné l’ESEE et NQ 3, cours NQ 5. Même si, à Borden, il a terminé le superviseur de la
sécurité et de freins à air des cours d’instructeur.
Après deux ans à Borden, en 2006, il était temps pour relever un nouveau défi comme il a
accepté une affectation à Petawawa dans un poste Appro de sécurité avec le ROSC, il a
déployé en 2007 avec foi en Afghanistan. Sur la promotion au grade de sgt, il a été déplacé à la
cellule de recrutement du ROSC et a parcouru le pays pour informer la FCSB sur quoi et
comment le COMFOSCAN fonctionne. Après avoir travaillé dans la cellule de recrutement pour
2 ans, Dan a été envoyé à 1 Cie des opérations spéciales comme le TPT le serg. Il y a de
nombreux défis au moment de lancer une nouvelle unité au sein du COMFOSCAN, mais à la fin
de la journée, il s’est avéré être une expérience enrichissante, en étroite collaboration avec des
personnes de toutes les couches de la société.
En 2011, Dan a été affecté au QG 2 Petawawa comme le Sgt Instr superviser plusieurs CDD,
de freins à air et des cours de conducteur de la 4 Div. Il a passé un an avec TC, puis il a été
affecté à 21 Régt GE à Kingston, en 2012, comme le Sgt TPT d’appliquer les politiques et les
directives de transport au sein du RAC.
Dan a fait 2 ans avec 21 Régt GE., il a été promu à l’adj en 2014 et affecté au RTIFC à
Kingston, comme le registre Adj TP, où il a tout juste eu à traverser l’atelier à son nouveau
bureau. Bien qu’au RTIFC, il était responsable de la PE, Cook, de l’approvisionnement et des
métiers de la circulation dans le RAC et veillé à s’acquitter de tâches de soutien du CSS en
garnison et exercices sur le terrain.
En 2018, Dan a été promu à l’adjum et envoyé au G4 OPS QG de l’Armée de terre à Ottawa
dans l’ensemble de la gestionnaire de la flotte pour le MMN B de la flotte.
Dan a passé plus de 36 ans de travailler avec et certains des plus professionnels des membres
des FAC et rencontré des amis continu en cours de route. Il a eu la chance d’avoir été exposés
à de nombreuses expériences différentes, complété plus de cours et les qualifications qu’il peut
se rappeler et a eu le privilège de travailler pour et avec autant de grands mentors et mentorés
tout au long de ses années de service. Il y a tellement de gens de mentionner et je remercie
pour son temps dans cette grande institution des FAC.
L’Adjum Ouellette prévoit revenir où tout a commencé au Nouveau-Brunswick, plus précisément
la région de Fredericton et a hâte de passer quelque temps avec sa famille bien méritée. Dan a
