Master Warrant Officer Wilf Lowenberg
After more than 33 years of combined Regular Force and Reserve service to Canada, Master Warrant Officer Wilf Lowenberg, CD, will be retiring from the CAF on the 31st of July, 2023.
MWO Lowenberg joined the CAF in August 1989 as an Administration Clerk and remain in this occupation through its transition to RMS Clerk and finally HRA. MWO Lowenberg was the true “purple” trade having served in all three elements as well as wearing all three environmental uniforms.
Over the course of his career, MWO Lowenberg has been posted to CFB Cold Lake, NDHQ Ottawa (twice – CFSRS HQ, DGMC), Halifax – HMCS FREDERICTON, Sea Training (Atlantic), Edmonton (3 times) – 3 PPCLI, 1 CER, 15 Svc Bn (as PRes), 3 CDSG Edmonton (3 times), 1 Svc Bn, LdSH (RC), and 2 PPCLI Shilo. He has also deployed internationally 5 times (NATO Atlantic, Bosnia, Afghanistan (twice) and to Ukraine, as well as 2 domestic ops – Op PERSISTENCE in 1999 after the Swiss Air Flight 111 crash and Op LENTUS in 2013 to the Manitoba Floods.
He will remain with DND in a civilian capacity, having accepted a position with the Public Service in order to keep his beautiful wife Susan in the lifestyle she has become accustomed to (plus she says he’s not allowed to retire before her).

Après plus de 33 ans de service combiné dans la Force régulière et la Réserve au Canada, l’Adjudant-maître Wilf Lowenberg, CD, prendra sa retraite des FAC le 31 juillet 2023.
L’Adjum Lowenberg s’est joint aux FAC en août 1989 en tant que commis d’administration et est demeuré dans cette profession tout au long de sa transition vers Commis SGR et enfin ARH. L’Adjum Lowenberg était le véritable métier « violet » ayant servi dans les trois éléments et portant les trois uniformes environnementaux.
Au cours de sa carrière, l’Adjum Lowenberg a été affecté à la BFC Cold Lake, QGDN Ottawa (deux fois – QG CFSRS, DGCM), Halifax – NCSM FREDERICTON, Formation Mer (Atlantique), Edmonton (3 fois) – 3 PPCLI, 1 CER , 15 Bon Svc (en tant que PRes), GS 3 Div Ca (3 fois), 1 Bon Svc, LdSH (RC) et 2 PPCLI Shilo. Il a également été déployé à l’étranger 5 fois (OTAN Atlantique, Bosnie, Afghanistan (deux fois) et en Ukraine, ainsi que 2 opérations nationales – Op PERSISTENCE en 1999 après l’écrasement du vol Swiss Air 111 et Op LENTUS en 2013 aux inondations du Manitoba.
Il restera au MDN à titre civil, après avoir accepté un poste dans la fonction publique afin de garder sa belle épouse Susan dans le style de vie auquel elle s’est habituée (en plus, elle dit qu’il n’est pas autorisé à prendre sa retraite avant elle).
