  1. Major Mario Pelletier will retire on 20 January 2018 after completing more than 34 years of loyal and dedicated service to Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
  2. Maj Pelletier enrolled in the CAF in October 1983 and began his career as a Traffic Technician under the Youth Training and Education Plan. After completing his occupation training in Edmonton, he was posted to Petawawa in 1984 and employed in CMTT receiving, TAMS and personnel traffic sections. In January 1985 he transferred to the regular forces, still as a Traffic technician. During his time in Petawawa he completed his basic para and took part in many exercises including RV85 where he worked on the major rail move out to Wainwright Alberta. He was promoted to the rank of MCpl in 1989.
  3. In 1989, MCpl Pelletier was posted to 3 Air Movements Unit Ottawa and employed on line crew and then with CMTT shipping section. In 1991 he was deployed on a six month tour to Cyprus as part of the UN contingent. In 1992 he completed his trade qualification level 6a and then went on to complete his C-130 Hercules loadmaster training. Posted to 435 Transport Squadron Edmonton in 1992, MCpl Pelletier flew all around the globe and was qualified on Tactical airdrops, Air to Air Refuelling and Search and Rescue. In 1993 he deployed to Africa as part of Humanitarian Relief mission. He moved to Winnipeg as part as a Squadron mass move to that location in 1994. He completed his time at 435 Sqn in the standards section and was promoted to Sgt in 1998.
  4. Sgt Pelletier was posted to 1 Air Movements Squadron in 1998 as the passenger terminal officer. Shortly after his new posting he was contacted by the career shop to go back flying, this time on the Airbus as a member of 437 Sqn. In 2001, Sgt Pelletier deployed to the UAE for 6 months as part of Op Apollo Roto 0. Following his tour abroad he was posted to the Transport and Rescue Evaluation Standards Team in Trenton where he was employed as the senior standards evaluator for Load masters and cabin crew members on both the C-150 Polaris as well as the C-144 Challenger aircrafts. After serving almost twelve years as a Loadmaster, Sgt Pelletier logged over 5,100 flying hours.
  5. In 2003, Sgt Pelletier was selected for the commissioning from the ranks plan and posted to CCC Trenton followed by a posting to 3 Wing Bagotville in 2005 as the Wing Transportation Officer. Lt Pelletier was promoted to Captain in April 2006.
  6. In 2008, Capt Pelletier was posted to CANSOFCOM HQ in Ottawa as the J4 Mobility 2. Following a short time at the HQ and was selected to go work at DHTC as the unit Movements Officer. Promoted to Major in 2010, he was then posted to Canadian Operational Command (CANOSCOM) Ottawa as the J4 Mov Ops. CANOSCOM eventually became Canadian Joint Operational Command (CJOC), but his duties didn’t change. After close to 7 years at CJOC, Maj Pelletier still loves his job, but must now move on to something else, not by choice but by necessity.
  7. Maj Pelletier will be retiring from the military in Ottawa and intend on working in a stress free environment where he can also take some time to travel with his beautiful wife Anke.
  8. Maj Pelletier has elected not to have a Depart with Dignity function, but will go out for an informal luncheon with colleagues and friends close to his last day in the CAF.

  2. Maj Pelletier s’enrôlai dans la réserve des FAC en Octobre 1983 en tant que technicien de mouvement. Après avoir compléter son entrainement initial à Edmonton, il est muter a Petawawa dans la section des mouvements ou il transféra dans la force régulière. Durant ses années à Petawawa, il aura eu la chance de compléter son cour de parachutiste de base, et participé à de nombreux exercices, incluant un mouvement ferroviaire majeure pour le RV85 a Wainwright Alberta. Il a été promu en tant que CplC en 1989.
  3. En 1989, CplC Pelletier à été muter a la 3ieme Escadron des mouvements aériens à Ottawa dans l’équipe de ligne et au SCTM dans les expéditions. En 1991, il déploya pendant 6 mois à Cyprès sous le contingent de l’ONU. En 1992, il compléta son niveau de qualification 6A et ensuite son cour d’arrimeur pour l’Hercules C-130. Il sera par la suite muter à Edmonton en 1992 à l’escadre du transport 435 ou il aura la chance de faire le tour du globe. Il obtiendra ses qualifications de aérolargage tactique, ravitaillement air-air, et recherche et sauvetage. En 1993 il déploya en Afrique en mission de secours humanitaire. Après son retour, il est transférer à Winnipeg sous la même unité dans la section des standards. Il sera promu Sgt en 1998.
  4. Sgt Pelletier devenait par la suite l’officier du terminal des passagers au 1er escadron des mouvements aériens. Peu après, il sera contacté par le gérant de carrière pour retourner sur les avions, en tant qu’arrimeur d’Airbus avec Esc 437. En 2001, Sgt Pelletier déploya pour Op Apollo Roto 0 pendant 6 mois au Émirats arabes unis. Il sera par la suite muter à Trenton ou il sera employé en tant que superviseur évaluateur pour les arrimeurs et équipage aérien sur le Polaris C-150 et le Challenger C-144. Il compléta 12 années comme arrimeur, enregistrant plus de 5,100 heures de vol cumulatif.
  5. En 2003, Sgt Pelletier a été sélectionner pour commissionner en tant que Officier et transférer a Trenton au CCC pour être par la suite muter a Bagotville a la 3e Escadre comme Officier de transport. Lt Pelletier a été promus Capt en Avril 2006.
  6. En 2008, Capt Pelletier a été posté au quartier général du COMFOSCAN à Ottawa au J4 Mobilité 2. Il a par la suite été sélectionné comme officier des mouvements au CEDH. Promus comme major en 2010, il sera transférer au COMSOCAN à Ottawa sous le J4 Operations des Mouvements. COMSOCAN deviendra par la suite COIC, ou il y restera et performera les même devoirs. Apres 7 années au COIC, Major Pelletier aime toujours son travail, mais doit maintenant entreprendre d’autres projets.
  7. Maj Pelletier prend sa retraite à Ottawa avec l’intention de trouver un emploi dans un environnement sans stress. Il prendra le temps de voyager avec son épouse Anke.
  8. Maj Pelletier ne désire pas de cérémonie de départ dans la dignité, mais plutôt un diner non formel avec ses collègues et amis proches.
