MAJ CHRIS MOORE, CD, LOG O (LAND), 00328-03
- MAJ CHRIS MOORE WILL RETIRE FROM THE CAF ON 3 JUNE 2019 AFTER MORE THAN 37 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA AND THE CAF.
- CHRIS ENROLLED IN THE CAF RESERVE IN JANUARY 1982 IN LONDON ON (22 SVC BN), INITIALLY AS A MSE OP THEN REALIZING THAT THE THEN CURRENT FLEET OF VEHICLES CHANGING FROM THE ‘DEUCE AND A HALF’ TO THE NEW MLVW PLATFORM MEANT LESS OPPORTUNITY TO DRIVE HE CHANGED TO A SUP TECH. IN 1985 HE COMPONENT TRANSFERRED TO THE REGULAR FORCE AS A COOK, FOLLOWING HIS FATHER’S FOOTSTEPS. THROUGHOUT THE NEXT 17 YEARS CHRIS ENJOYED SERVING IN ALL THE CAF ELEMENTS, THE RCN 1986-89, THE CA 1989-94 AND 1997-2002, AND THE RCAF 1994-97. JUST BEFORE BEING PROMOTED TO WO HE WAS OFFERED AND ACCEPTED THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMMISSION FROM THE RANKS.
- AS A COOK CHRIS ENJOYED POSTINGS AND TOURS THAT INCLUDED CFB ESQUIMALT, HMCS KOOTENAY, CDN AIRBORNE REGT, 1 RCR, 1 RCHA (SHILO) AND 19 WING COMOX; WITH TOURS TO THE PERSIAN GOLF (1990-91), GOLAN HEIGHTS (1995-96) AND FORMER BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA (1999). AS A ‘YOUNG’ LOG OFFICER HE HAS SERVED WITH 1 GS BN AS ASST ADJT AND TRG O, CFB EDMONTON AS FOOD AND QUARTERING SVCS O, BASE TRG O AND BASE ADJT; AND DEPLOYED TO OP ATHENA (AFGHANISTAN) WITH 2 SVC BN (2005). UPON PROMOTION TO MAJ HE WAS POSTED TO TF EL GORAH (2009-10), CANOSCOM FORMATION FOOD SVC O AND J3-5 INTEGRATION, LFWA HQ G4 SYSTEMS, 7 CFSD DCO AND 3 CDN DIV HQ G4 PROJECTS.
- SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF HIS CAREER INCLUDE HIS TIME WITH THE CDN AIRBORNE REGT, HIS DEPLOYMENTS, AND ALL OF THOSE HE MET AND WORKED WITH OVER THE YEARS.
- CHRIS PLANS TO RETIRE IN THE EDMONTON AREA WITH HIS WIFE KYM OF 35+ YEARS (KNOWING EACH OTHER SINCE GRADE 4) AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOME TIME TO FOCUS ON HIS OWN GOALS; COMPLETION OF HIS BACHELORS DEGREE, FAMILY TIME WITH HIS WIFE, KIDS AND GRANDKIDS AND MORE FISHING AND GOLF.
- CHRIS HAS REQUESTED NO FORMAL DEPART WITH DIGNITY (DWD) CEREMONY BUT SIMPLY ASKS FOR THOSE SO INCLINED TO RAISE A TOAST TO ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED OR CONTINUE TO SERVE.
