LCOL HENDRIGAN, 00328-02, LOG – AIR
1. AFTER 33 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES AND THE LOGISTICS BRANCH, LCOL MIKE HENDRIGAN WILL RETIRE ON 20 AUGUST 2018.
2. LCOL HENDRIGAN JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN JULY 1985 UNDER THE REGULAR OFFICER TRAINING PROGRAM, AND GRADUATED FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA WITH A DEGREE IN ECONOMICS. HIS FIRST POSTING AS A LIEUTENANT AND THEN CAPTAIN WAS TO BASE SUPPLY CFB EDMONTON, SUPPORTING HERCULES, TWIN OTTER, CHINOOK, TWIN HUEY AND KIOWA FLIGHT OPERATIONS. WITH THE CLOSURE OF CALGARY AND THE ARRIVAL OF THE ARMY IN EDMONTON, HE MANAGED TO ESCAPE TO THE NORTH AND WAS POSTED TO 441 TACTICAL FIGHTER SQUADRON IN 4 WING COLD LAKE. AS SQUADRON LOGISTICS OFFICER, HE PARTICIPATED IN EXERCISES IN INUVIK, HAWAII, UTAH, NEVADA AND NEW MEXICO, AND WAS THEN CALLED UP TO THE SHOW AND DEPLOYED AS THE A4 IN AVIANO, ITALY ON OPERATION ECHO / ALLIED FORCE. UPON RETURN FROM ITALY, HE WAS POSTED TO 3 CANADIAN SUPPORT GROUP IN MONTREAL WHERE HE SPENT THREE YEARS SUPPORTING MISSION MOUNTINGS, ROTATIONS, SUSTAINMENT ACTIVITIES AND CLOSURES. 3 CSG HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED DEPLOYMENTS TO KOSOVO AND ERITREA, AND A NEW RESPECT AND APPRECIATION OF WORKING IN A JOINT ENVIRONMENT.
3. IN 2002, CAPTAIN HENDRIGAN WAS PROMOTED TO MAJOR BY HIS FRIEND CAPTAIN J.G. CHARLAND (YES IT HAPPENED THAT WAY) AND WAS POSTED ON SHORT NOTICE TO WORK IN THE BOX AT J4 LOG IN NDHQ. SURROUNDED BY HARD CHARGING, PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE COMBAT SERVICE SUPPORT TYPES THAT WOULD BECOME LIFELONG FRIENDS, MAJOR HENDRIGAN WORKED IN J4 LOGISTICS OPERATIONS AND THEN LOGISTICS PLANS, SUPPORTING THE SMALLER MISSIONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA AND THE LARGER MISSIONS IN AFGHANISTAN, HAITI AND BOSNIA. THE THREE YEARS IN THE BOX WITHOUT SUNLIGHT FLEW BY, AND IN 2005 MAJOR HENDRIGAN WAS POSTED BACK TO 4 WING COLD LAKE TO BE THE WING SUPPLY OFFICER. HIS AIR FORCE POSTING WAS SHORTENED, AS IN EARLY 2007 HE DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN ON OP ATHENA ROTO 3 TO BE THE OFFICER COMMANDING THE CONTRACT MANAGEMENT CELL IN THE NATIONAL SUPPORT ELEMENT.
4. IN MID 2007, MAJOR HENDRIGAN WAS POSTED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES COLLEGE AND IN 2008 HE WAS PROMOTED TO LCOL. THEN POSTED TO NATO SUPREME ALLIED COMMAND TRANSFORMATION HEADQUARTERS IN NORFOLK, VIRGINIA, HE LED CIVIL-MILITARY INFORMATION SHARING EFFORTS BETWEEN NATO HQ, NATO NATIONS, THE UNITED NATIONS, THE NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION COMMUNITY AND ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS. IN 2011, HE RETURNED TO HIS ALBERTA ROOTS TO BE COMMANDING OFFICER 7 CANADIAN FORCES SUPPLY DEPOT IN EDMONTON. IN 2013, LCOL HENDRIGAN COMMENCED SECOND LANGUAGE TRAINING AND UPON COMPLETION, HE WAS THEN NAMED CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE CANADIAN MATERIAL SUPPORT GROUP (TIMING IS EVERYTHING), WHERE HE REMAINS TODAY.
5. WITH 33 YEARS OF SERVICE, LCOL HENDRIGAN FULLY REALIZES THAT THE SUCCESSES HE ENJOYED IN HIS CAREER, EITHER IN THE OFFICE, ON THE WAREHOUSE FLOOR OR ON THE ICE, ARE DUE TO THE EFFORTS OF HIS FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES, SUPERVISORS, PEERS, AND SUBORDINATES. HE WISHES TO PUBLICALLY THANK HIS WIFE CAPTAIN NATHALIE BOURGEOIS AND SON JACOB FOR ROUNDING OUT HIS LIFE AND SUPPORTING HIS CAREER WITH THE MOVES AND POSTING ADVENTURES. HE WILL BE TRANSITIONING TO THE PUBLIC SERVICE TO CONTINUE HIS SUPPORT OF THE DEFENCE SUPPLY CHAIN,
AND WILL CONTINUE TO SHOW UP AT GOLF TOURNAMENTS, LOG LUNCHEONS OR LOGISTICS 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENTS NEAR YOU.

SA PREMIERE AFFECTATION EN TANT QUE LIEUTENANT ET CAPITAINE FUT A LA SECTION D’APPROVISIONEMMENT DE LA BFC EDMONTON, EN SUPPORT DES OPÉRATIONS DES AERONEFS HERCULES, TWIN OTTER, CHINOOK, TWIN HUEY ET KIOWA. AVEC LA FERMETURE DE LA BASE DE CALGARY ET L’ARRIVÉE DE L’ARMÉE À EDMONTON, IL EST AFFECTÉ A LA 441EME ESCADRON TACTIQUE DE LA 4EME ESCADRE DE COLD LAKE EN ALBERTA. EN TANT QU’OFFICIER DE LOGISTIQUE DE L’ESCADRON, IL PARTICIPE A PLUSIEURS EXERCISES À INUVIK, HAWAII, UTAH, NEVADA ET AU NOUVEAU MEXIQUE, ET EST DEPLOYE COMME A4 À AVIANO, ITALIE EN SUPPORT DE L’OPÉRATION ECHO. À SON RETOUR DE L’ITALIE, IL EST AFFECTE AU 3EME GROUPE DE SOUTIEN DU CANADA À MONTRÉAL PENDANT TROIS ANS. LES FAITS SAILLANTS DE LA 3 GSC INCLUS DES DÉPLOIEMENTS AU KOSOVO ET EN ÉRYTHRÉE.
3. EN 2002, LE CAPITAINE HENDRIGAN EST PROMU AU RANG DE MAJOR PAR SON AMI LE CAPITAINE J.G. CHARLAND ET EST MUTE AU J4 LOG AU QGDN. ENTOURÉ DE GENS PROFESSIONNELS ET CONNAISSANTS QUI DEVIENDRONT DES AMIS POUR LA VIE, MAJOR HENDRIGAN TRAVAILE DANS LES OPÉRATIONS LOGISTIQUES DU J4 ET LES PLANS LOGISTIQUES SUPPORTANT DES MISSIONS AU MOYEN- ORIENT, AFRIQUE, AFGHANISTAN, HAÏTI ET BOSNIE. APRES TROIS ANS AU QGDN, MAJOR HENDRIGAN EST AFFECTE À LA 4 ESCADRE DE COLD LAKE EN 2005 COMME OFFICIER D’APPROVISIONEMMENT DE L’ESCADRE. EN 2007, IL EST DÉPLOYÉ EN AFGHANISTAN EN SUPPORT A L’OPERATION ATHENA (ROTO 3) COMME COMMANDANT DE LA SECTION DES CONTRATS DANS L’ÉLÉMENT NATIONAL DE SOUTIEN.
4. APRES SON RETOUR DE L’AFGHANISTAN, MAJOR HENDRIGAN EST MUTE AU COLLÈGE DES FORCES CANADIENNES A TORONTO ET, EN 2008, IL EST PROMU AU RANG DE LCOL. APRES SA GRADUATION DU COLLEGE, IL EST AFFECTÉ AU QUARTIER GÉNÉRAL DU COMMANDEMENT ALLIE TRANSFORMATION DE L’OTAN À NORFOLK, EN VIRGINIE. EN 2011, IL RETOURNE EN ALBERTA COMME COMMANDANT DU DÉPÔT D’APPROVISIONNEMENT DES FORCES CANADIENNES À EDMONTON. EN 2013, LE LCOL HENDRIGAN COMMENCE SA FORMATION EN LANGUE SECONDE ET UNE FOIS TERMINE, IL EST NOMMÉ CHEF D’ÉTAT-MAJOR DU QUARTIER GENERAL DU GROUPE DE SOUTIEN DU MATERIEL DU CANADA OU IL EST ENCORE AJOURDHUI.
5. APRES 33 ANS DE SERVICE, LE LCOL HENDRIGAN RECONNAÎT QUE LES SUCCÈS QU’IL A EU DANS SA CARRIÈRE SONT DUS AUX EFFORTS ET SOUTIENS DE SES AMIS, COLLÈGUES, SUPERVISEURS, PAIRS, ET SUBORDONNÉS. IL SOUHAITE REMERCIER SA FEMME, CAPITAINE NATHALIE BOURGEOIS ET SON FILS JACOB POUR LEUR SOUTIEN. IL TRANSITIONNERA AU SECTEUR PUBLIC ET POURSUIVRA SON TRAVAIL DANS LE DOMAINE DE L’APPROVISIONNEMENT AU GSMC POUR DND.
