LCol Dave Anderson will officially retire from the Canadian Armed Forces on 2 January 2018 after over 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to Canada.
His adventure with the CAF began in 1986, when he joined the Reserve Force as a Logistics Officer. After jumping into the Regular Force he was fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve in many varied and fascinating appointments. Career highlights include serving as the Quartermaster of 2 RCR, being appointed Officer Commanding Supply Company in Gagetown, New Brunswick and Command of CFAD Angus in Borden, Ontario.
Dave’s work life was forever changed when he was accepted for Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) training in the United Kingdom. He thoroughly enjoyed being employed in this niche specialty and he is particularly thankful to the DND Ammunition Community for their guidance and comradery over the years.
His operational highlights include deployments to: the United Nations Mission in Eritrea and Ethiopia (UNMEE) as the contingent Supply Officer, the NATO Stabilization Force in Bosnia- Herzegovina as the mission Ammunition Technical Authority, the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in Port au Prince as the Deputy Chief Joint Logistics, the International Independent Commission on Decommissioning (IICD) in Belfast, Northern Ireland as an IEDD Operator, and Task Force Afghanistan, where he assisted with the closure of the Canadian portion of the Tri-National Ammunition Supply Point in Kandahar.
Never one to paint a picture when 1000 words can do the job, Dave also enjoyed several interesting and challenging staff jobs, including the G4 Programs at LFWA HQ in Edmonton, the
Ammunition Technical Authority for CJOC and CANOSCOM and the J4 Ammunition Section Head within (ADM) Material and Strategic J4 organizations.
Dave has accepted a job with the Public Service, which will keep him in the Ottawa area with his lovely, brilliant and patient spouse, Stephanie; and near to his son William and daughter Alice.
A depart with dignity event will be held in Dave’s honour at the Fox and Feather Pub & Grill located at 283 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario on 9 November 2017. Son aventure dans les FAC a débuté en 1986, lorsqu’il a joint la Force de Réserve en tant qu’Officier Logistique. Après avoir fait le saut dans la Force Régulière, il a été choyé d’avoir l’opportunité de servir dans plusieurs positions variées, fascinantes et de défi avec plusieurs personnes variées, fascinantes et talentueuses. Les faits saillants de sa carrière incluent servir comme Quartier-Maitre au 2eme Batallion, Royal Canadian Regiment, être nommé Commandant de la Compagnie d’Approvisionnement à Gagetown, Nouveau-Brunswick et Commandant du Dépôt de Munitions des Forces Canadiennes à Angus, Ontario.
Ses faits saillants opérationnels incluent des déploiements: à la Mission des Nations Unies en Érythrée et Éthiopie (UNMEE) comme Officier d’Approvisionnement du Contingent, à la Force de Stabilisation de l’OTAN en Bosnie-Herzégovine comme Autorité Technique en Munitions de la mission, à la Mission de Stabilisation des Nations Unies en Haïti (MINUSTAH) à Port au Prince comme Adjoint au Chef de la Logistique Interarmées, à la Commission Internationale Indépendante de Mise hors Service à Belfast, Irlande du Nord comme Opérateur NEEI, et en Afghanistan, où il a assisté avec la fermeture de la portion canadienne du point d’approvisionnement en munitions des trois-Nations à Kandahar.
Personne ne devrait peindre un portrait quand 1000 mots peuvent faire l’ouvrage, Dave a aussi aimé plusieurs emplois intéressants d’État-Major, incluant le G4 Programmes au QG SOFT à Edmonton, l’Autorité Technique en Munitions pour COIC et COMSOCAN et le Chef de Section de J4 Munitions à (SMA) Matériel et à l’État-Major Interarmées Stratégiques.
La routine de travail de Dave a changée pour toujours lorsqu’il a été accepté pour le cours d’Officier Technique des Munitions (OTM) aux Royaume-Unis. Il a vraiment aimé être employé dans cette spécialité et est particulièrement reconnaissant à la communauté des Munitions du MDN pour les conseils, directions et camaraderie au cours des années. Dave a accepté un emploi dans la Fonction Publique, qui le gardera dans la Communauté des Munitions et dans la région d’Ottawa avec son épouse, Stéphanie; et près de son garçon, William, et sa fille, Alice.
Un départ avec dignité aura lieu en honneur de Dave au “Fox and Feather Pub & Grill » situé au 283 Rue Elgin, Ottawa, Ontario le 9 Novembre 2017. Les présentations pour Dave débuteront à 1300 hrs.
