HAILING FROM TRACADIE, NEW BRUNSWICK, CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER POITRAS ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES AS A TRAFFIC  TECHNICIAN IN 1983 AND RECEIVED HIS LOADMASTER WINGS IN 1991.   DURING HIS CAREER, HE HAS SERVED AT BASE TRAFFIC SECTIONS, AS A   MOBILE AIR MOVEMENT TEAM MEMBER, AS AN AIR TRANSPORT LOADMASTER ON THE CC109 COSMOPOLITAN AND CC150 AIRBUS AIRCRAFT. HE HAS ALSO SERVED AS A TACTICAL AIRLIFT AND SEARCH AND RESCUE LOADMASTER ON THE MIGHTY CC130 HERCULES AIRCRAFT. CWO POITRAS ALSO SERVED AS THE STANDARDS WARRANT OFFICER AND CHIEF CHECK LOADMASTER WHILE AT 426 TRAINING SQUADRON IN TRENTON

 

  1. HE COMPLETED HIS LAST FLYING TOUR UPON PROMOTION TO CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER IN 2007 AND, AT THAT TIME, BECAME THE SQUADRON CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER OF THE NEWLY REACTIVATED 429 SQUADRON. SUBSEQUENT TO THAT, HE SERVED AS THE JOINT TASK FORCE AFGHANISTAN AIR WING CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER IN KANDAHAR, WING CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER AT 12 WING  SHEARWATER, NOVA SCOTIA, ALONG WITH HOLDING STRATEGIC POSITIONS IN  OTTAWA AS CANADA COMMAND CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER, COMMAND CHIEF  WARRANT OFFICER OF THE CANADIAN JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND AND HIS  FINAL POSITION AS THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE COMMAND CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER, A POSITION HE HAS HELD SINCE 2015. DURING HIS CAREER HE HAS ACCUMULATED APPROXIMATELY 4500 FLYING HOURS AND HAS  DEPLOYED ON COUNTLESS OPERATIONS IN CANADA AND OVERSEAS

 

  1. CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER POITRAS AND HIS SPOUSE JEANNE WILL REMAIN IN THE OTTAWA AREA FOR THE TIME BEING, RETIREMENT PLANS INCLUDE  TAKING THE SUMMER OFF FOR SOME REST, TRAVEL, FITNESS AND GARDENING

 

  1. A DEPARTURE WITH DIGNITY CEREMONY WILL BE HELD ON 14 JUNE 2018 AT THE NATIONAL DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS WARRANT OFFICERS SERGEANTS CHIEFS AND PETTY OFFICERS MESS STARTING AT 1130 HRS.
