CWO J.R. Jensen
After 33+ years in the Canadian Armed Forces CWO Jim Jensen will be retiring in August 2023. CWO Jensen was born in Niagara Falls Ontario and enrolled in the CAF in early 1990 as an artilleryman. From 1990-1995 CWO Jensen was an air defence artilleryman posted to Chatham and Gagetown NB. In 1995 CWO Jensen occupationally transferred to the MSE Op trade and after completing QL3 trades training was posted to 2 Svc Bn Petawawa. From Jan 1996 until July 2003 CWO Jensen was employed in various positions within Tn Coy in 2 Svc Bn, mostly spent in Transportation field platoon. In the summer of 2003 CWO Jensen was posted to 8 Wing Trenton. Promoted to MCpl in 2004 he spent the next 5 years employed in various positions within TEME Sqn. In 2009 CWO Jensen was promoted to Sgt and posted to Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre (CFLTC) in Borden. After 3 years of molding and mentoring the future of the MSE Op trade, in 2012 it was off to the base language school for a yearlong French course. After completing the course in May of 2013, he was posted to 1 Svc Bn in Edmonton. Promoted to WO in Oct 2013, he spent 2013-2015 employed as a field platoon WO and base transportation WO in Tn Coy 1 Svc Bn. In March of 2016 he was promoted to Master Warrant Officer and selected to be the Company Sergeant Major (CSM) for Transportation Company 1 Svc Bn upon completion of deployment. In July of 2016 CWO Jensen deployed on Op Unifier to Ukraine as a senior logistics instructor and mentor. Returning to 1 Svc Bn in April of 2017 he spent the next 2+ years filling the roles of CSM Tn Coy. In 2019 after the most enjoyable years of his career it was off to 5 Canadian Division HQ in Halifax to be the G4 Transportation and the Senior Tech for the MSE Op trade in Atlantic Canada. After only about 7 months in Halifax CWO Jensen was selected by the RCLS to become the 20th RSM of 7 CFSD in Edmonton, and the first ever non Material Management Tech/Supply Tech in the units 67 year history to take up the role. He returned to Edmonton nearly 1 year to the day he left for the east coast. CWO Jensen enjoyed 3 incredibly rewarding years as the RSM of 7 CFSD from July 2020 until July 2023. CWO Jensen and his spouse will be staying in the Edmonton area close to their 2 adult children who currently reside there. Jim will be continuing with his passion for people growth and talent acquisition/development, entering the private sector in the People and Culture field. Over the span of a 33+ year career CWO Jensen has deployed on multiple international deployments, domestic deployments and too many field exercises to remember, but through it all, it’s the people he will remember, and miss the most. Jim would like to thank all the fantastic people he’s worked along side this past 33+ years for their part in making it one heck of a ride! Après 33 ans dans les forces canadiennes l’Adjuc Jensen prendra sa retraite en août 2023. L’Adjuc Jensen est né à Niagara Falls en Ontario et s’est enrôlé dans les forces en 1990 comme artilleur. Entre 1990 et 1995, l’Adjuc Jensen était un artilleur de défense aérienne muté à Chatham et Gagetown au NB. En 1995, il a été transféré au poste de MSE Op et après le NQ3, il a été muté au 2 Svc Bn à Petawawa. Entre janvier 1996 et juillet 2003, l’Adjuc Jensen a occupé plusieurs postes dans la compagnie de transport. Pendant l’été 2003, il a été muté à Trenton. Promu Cplc en 2004, il a passé les 5 années suivantes à travailler dans l’escadron TEME. En 2009, l’Adjuc Jensen a été promu sergent et a été muté au centre d’instruction logistique des forces canadiennes (CFLIC) à Borden. Après trois années passées à former et encadrer le futur de MSE Op, en 2012 il est parti à l’école de langues pour suivre le cours continu en français. Après avoir fini le cours en mai 2013, il a été muté au 1 Svc Bn à Edmonton. Promu adjudant en octobre 2013, il a passé les 2 années suivantes comme adjudant de peloton de compagnie et adjudant de transport de base. En mars 2016 il été promu adjudant-maitre et sélectionné pour être le sergent-major de compagnie de transport à la fin du déploiement. En juillet 2016, l’Adjuc Jensen a été déployé en Ukraine comme instructeur logistique. De retour au 1 Svc Bn en avril, il a passé les 2 années suivantes comme SMR Tn Coy. En 2019, après les meilleures années de sa carrière, il est parti pour Halifax 5 Cdn Div HQ comme le G4 Transport et technicien principal pour le métier MSE Op, pour les provinces atlantiques. Après seulement 7 mois à Halifax, l’Adjuc Jensen a été sélectionné par le RCLS pour être le 20e SMR du 7 CFSD à Edmonton, et le premier non technicien en gestion du matériel/approvisionnement en 67 ans d’histoire de l’unité à occuper ce poste. Il est revenu à Edmonton presque un an jour pour jour après son départ pour la côte Est. L’Adjuc Jensen a passé 3 ans enrichissants en tant que SMR du 7 CFSD entre juillet 2020 et juillet 2023. L’Adjuc Jensen et sa femme vont rester à Edmonton près de leurs 2 enfants adultes. Jim poursuivra sa passion pour le développement de personnes, et l’acquisition/développement des talents dans le secteur privé, et le domaine des personnes et de la culture. Pendant une carrière de plus de 33 ans, l’Adjuc Jensen a été déployé plusieurs fois, a participé à beaucoup d’exercices, ici et à l’international, mais ce sont des personnes dont il se souviendra et qui lui manqueront le plus. Jim voudrait remercier toutes les personnes fantastiques avec lesquelles il a travaillé au cours des 33 dernières années pour leur contribution et qui ont contribué à faire de ce voyage un moment inoubliable !
