1. AFTER 33 YEARS OF SERVICE, CPO2 KEVIN MARCIPONT, CD WILL BE RETIRING. HE ENROLLED IN HALIFAX AND ARRIVED IN CORNWALLIS 13 SEPTEMBER 1986 AS AN YTEP SUPPLY TECHNICIAN, LAND. HE WENT TO BORDEN AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED HIS QL3 U TRAIN COURSE, AFTER WHICH HE WAS POSTED TO CFB GAGETOWN IN LATE JAN 1987 WHERE HE WENT TO WORK IN CLOTHING STORES. ON 13 SEPTEMBER 1987 HE ENROLLED WITH THE REGULAR FORCE AND REMAINED IN GAGETOWN UNTIL HIS POSTING TO 8 CH(PRINCESS LOUISE’S) REGT IN CFB LARH GERMANY, JUNE 1990. HE REMAINED UNTIL THE CLOSE OUT IN JUNE 1994 WHEN HE WAS POSTED TO CFB PETAWAWA TO 2 SVC BN AND 3 RCR.
2. IN 1998 HE WAS POSTED TO CFB BORDEN BASE SUPPLY, DEPLOYING TO THE GOLAN HEIGHTS AS PART OF OP DANACA (UN) ROTO 69, CFMS, AND R & QSS. HE WAS PROMOTED TO MCPL IN 2004. POSTED TO CFB TRENTON 2005-2011 DEPLOYING TO CAMP MIRAGE UAE, THEN TO TF AFGHANISTAN WITH COMKAF AT THE KANDAHAR AIRFIELD. LATER PROMOTED TO WO AND OFFERED A POSTING TO CFB HALIFAX WHERE HE WORKED AT BLOG UNTIL A POSTING TO THE HMCS PERSERVER WITH NO EXPERIENCE SAILING. WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A GREAT CREW, HE SOON BEGAN TO EMBRACE THE NAVY LIFE. COMPLETING OP CARIBBE TWICH AND JOINT WARRIOR. THEN HE WAS POSTED TO THE HMCS TORONTO AND IT WAS WHILE ON OP REASSURANCE ROTO 0, HE CHANGED UNIFORMS TO SEA SOON AFTER BECOMING PART OF THE CREW AS PO1 MARCIPONT. UPON COMPLETING THAT TOUR, HE SAILED ON THE HMCS ATHABASKAN FOR FLEET WEEK IN NYC. SHORTLY AFTER RETURNING, HE WAS PROMOTED TO CPO2 AND POSTED TO 36 CBG HQ (BACK TO THE ARMY) AS THE G4 SUP 2. HE HAS THREE CHILDREN AND TWO GRANDCHILDREN, WITH HOPES FOR A FEW MORE. HE PLANS ON STAYING IN HALIFAX WITH NO OTHER PLAN FOR ANYTHING!! HE WANTS TO LET EVERYONE KNOW JUST HOW PRIVILEGED HE FEELS TO HAVE MET SO MANY GREAT PEOPLE THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER AND HE TAKES WITH HIM A LOT OF FANTASTIC MEMORIES.
