CPL PETER HINKS, 00171 MSE OP
1. After 10 years of loyal and dedicated service, Cpl Peter Hinks will be retiring from the CAF on 02 December 2017.
2. Cpl Peter Hinks began his career in October 2007, completing his basic training in Quebec and heading to CFB Borden to await training in the spring of 2008. While waiting for his QL 3 ’s he had the privilege of being attach posted to CFB Yellowknife for 3 months for OJT which he says was an excellent experience for him. Once fully trained as an MSE Op he had the honour of his first posting to CFB Petawawa to 2 SVC BN, where he spent the majority of his career. While posted to 2 SVC BN he completed his work up training in Bravo Platoon for deployment to Afghanistan in 2010 with the NSE. During his deployment to Kandahar he worked many convoys, tasks, and was even attached to the Battle Group. Making friends where ever he goes, his deployment was not without the standard Hinks jokes and anecdotes that follow him wherever he goes. A member that will go above and beyond to keep morale high no matter the cost at his expense. Upon his return from TF 1 – 10 Cpl Hinks was employed with base refuelling working with 427 SQN, and 450 SQN once operational where he learned the fundamentals of the Air Force side to our trade. Between Bravo Platoon and Alpha Platoon in 2 SVC BN he made numerous trips to CFB Wainwright and completed the numerous exercises annually, racking up his tractor-trailer miles between Canada and USA. Before leaving Petawawa in 2016 he was posted to 1 CDN Field Hospital in 2014 where he got his snow removal experience and transporting of talking cargo. In 2016 he bid farewell to Petawawa chanting DFW2T all the way out the gate on his long drive to Detachment Dundurn, SK. In his short time in Dundurn, he has finessed his Heavy Equipment Operator skills, although Pete’s corner will always leave a lasting memory of him here.
3. In his short time of being an MSE Op he notes he has met some amazing people in his time, making a lot of friends, and some that he would more so call his brothers.
4. He will be leaving Det Dundurn on Dec 02, 2017 and driving back to Newfoundland with his girlfriend Beth and where he will be residing in the town of Pasadena while he waits to attend school next fall.

CPL PETER HINKS, 00171 CHAUF MR
1. Après 10 années de bons et loyaux service s, le Cpl Peter Hinks prendra sa retraite des FAC le 2 décembre 2017.
2. Le Cpl Peter Hinks commence sa carrière en o ctob re 2007, en suivant d’abord l’instruction élémentaire à Québec, puis en se dirigeant à la BFC Borden en vue de son prochain cours au printemps 2008. Dans l’attente de son cours de NQ 3, il a le privilège d’être affecté temporairement à la BFC Yellowknife pour une form ation en cours d’emploi de trois mois, qui s’avère une excellente expérience. Une fois complètement formé à titre de Chauf MR, il a l’honneur d’être affecté au 2 Bon Svc à la BFC Petawawa , où il passe la majorité de sa carrière. Là – bas, il travaille au sei n du Pon Bravo et s’entraîne en vue d’un déploiement en Afghanistan e n 2010 , au sein de l’ESN. Au cours de sa mission à Kandahar , il prend part à de nombreux convois, effectue de multiples tâches et est même attaché au Groupement tactique . Se faisant des amis peu importe où il se trouve , ceux – ci se souviennent de ses blagues et anecdotes habituelles qui le suivent partout . C’est un militaire prêt à tout pour maintenir le moral , peu importe ce qu’il lui en coûte . À son retour de la FO 1 – 10 , le Cpl Hinks est employé au Ravitaillement de la Base au s ervice du 427 Esc et du 450 Esc, une fois celui – ci opérationnel. Il y apprend les aspects fondamentaux de son groupe professionnel dans la Force aérienne . Mis à part son travail au sein du Pon Bravo et du Pon Alpha au 2 Bon Svc, il effectue de nombreuses tâches à la BFC Wainwright et participe à un grand nombre d’exerc ices annuels, accumulant ainsi l es kilomètres à bord de camions – remorques entre le Canada et les États – Unis . Avant de quitter Petawawa, il est affecté à la 1 H C amp C en 2014 , où il gagne de l’expérience en déneigement et en transport de « cargaison parlante » . En 2016 , il dit au revoir à Petawawa en scandant le « DFW2T » jusqu’à la sortie de la Base, en route pour un long trajet vers le D ét Dundurn, en Saskatchewan . Durant son court séjour là – bas, il améliore ses compétences de conducteur d’équipement lourd, mais c’est chez Pete’s C orner qu’il laisse ra un souvenir durable de lui – même.
3. Au cours de sa courte carrière comme Chauf MR, il constate qu’il a rencontré des personnes formidables durant ce temps et qu’il s’est fait de nombreux amis, dont certains sont même presque des frères .
4. Il quittera le Dét Dundurn le 2 décembre 2017 et se dirigera en voiture avec sa conjointe Bethani vers Terre – Neuve, où il habitera dans la ville de Pasadena , en vue d’un retour à l’école à l’automne prochain .
5. Une cérémonie non officielle de départ dans la dignité aura lieu au Thirsty Scholar , à Saskatoon , le 24 n ovemb re 2017 à 1200. Les p ersonnes qui souhaitent y participer sont prié es de réserver auprès du Cplc Courtney Sutherland par courriel, APTL 15 novembre 20 17.
