RETIREMENT – CDR TIM ALLAN, CD, LOG O, 00328
1. AFTER MORE THAN 36 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE, CDR TIM ALLAN WILL SWALLOW THE ANCHOR AND RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF) ON 10 JULY 2017
2. CDR ALLAN HAS HAD AN EXTENSIVE CAREER SERVING FROM COAST TO COAST AND ABROAD. HE JOINED THE CAF ON 10 OCT 1980 AS A RESERVE INFANTRYMAN WITH THE GOVERNOR GENERAL S FOOT GUARDS. HAVING SOON DECIDED THAT THE MILITARY MET HIS ASPIRATIONS AND THE NAVAL UNIFORM SUITED HIM BEST, HE COMPONENT TRANSFERRED TO THE REGULAR FORCE IN JUNE 1982 UNDER THE ROTP. HE GRADUATED FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA WITH A COMMERCE DEGREE IN 1986 AND, AS A NEWLY MINTED PADM, HE SERVED IN VARIOUS JUNIOR OFFICER POSITIONS IN TRENTON. FROM THERE, HE WENT ON TO SERVE IN HALIFAX, BORDEN, AND ESQUIMALT BEFORE BEING POSTED IN 2005 TO GEILENKIRCHEN, GERMANY AS THE DEPUTY COMMANDING OFFICER. HE LEFT GERMANY IN 2007 TO ATTEND THE CANADIAN FORCES Staff college IN TORONTO, AFTER WHICH HE ASSUMED THE J1 FUNCTIONS AT CANADIAN OPERATIONAL SUPPORT COMMAND HEADQUARTERS IN OTTAWA. GOOD FORTUNE CONTINUED, FIRST IN 2011 WHEN HE RETURNED TO ESQUIMALT AS THE BASE ADMINISTRATION OFFICER, AND AGAIN, IN 2013 WHEN HE WAS CALLED TO OTTAWA TO SERVE AS THE CHIEF OF MILITARY PERSONNEL DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF, WHERE HE IS CURRENTLY THE SUPPORT OCCUPATIONS MANAGER OVER 49 OCCUPATIONS ACROSS 13 BRANCHES
3. HIGHLIGHTS OF CDR ALLAN S CAREER INCLUDE DEPLOYMENTS TO THE GOLAN HEIGHTS DURING THE 1991 GULF WAR, TRAVELLING THE WORLD WITH 436 (TRANSPORT) SQUADRON, INSTRUCTING AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICS, LEADING THE CASUALTY SUPPORT TEAMS IN LANDSTUHL, GERMANY, AND AS COMMANDING OFFICER OF 500 PLUS MEMBERS OF THE CFB ESQUIMALT ADMINISTRATION BRANCH, INCLUDING THE PMC FUNCTION OF THE WARDROOM
4. WITH GREG AND JEFF HAVING LEFT THE NEST, TIM AND BONNY PLAN TO RETIRE TO VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA WITH LENGTHY PERIODS OF TRAVEL AND LEISURE ON THE HORIZON
