COMMEMORATING NATIONAL PEACEKEEPERS’ DAY IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION

 OTTAWA – Members of the media and the public are invited to attend the National Peacekeepers’ Day commemorating the service of Peacekeepers past and present at “The Reconciliation,” that will be held at the National Peacekeeping Monument. This year’s event will mark the 65th anniversary of the United Nations Emergency Force in the Middle East, and highlight the service of Canadian Police Services’ participation in overseas missions. 

The Reviewing Officer will be Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly, OOM, accompanied by other dignitaries from the Government of Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. 

This special day memorializes the service of over 150,000 Canadians that have participated, and continue to participate in international peacekeeping missions.
