CWO MIKE MOORE, CD, 00381-04 CWO CORPS
After 34 years of service, CWO Mike Moore will be releasing form the CAF. Mike enrolled as an
Adm Clk 831 in Saint-John NB in March 1989 and was quickly sent to Cornwallis (before he
changed his mind) for recruit training beginning in Apr 1989. Following recruit school Mike was
att posted to AMDU Trenton while awaiting QL3. The Trenton experience was such that he
wanted to stay in Trenton after QL3 which is what happened from 1990 – 1995. Mike was lucky
enough to pick up a UN tour to Morocco in 1993 and this led to a posting to 1 Cdn Div HQ and
Sigs in 1995 as he discovered that training and deploying was where the adventure was to be
found. Mike was posted to Kingston from 1995 – 2000 and was on the road for much of that (as
were most CAF members during that time) busy with major exercises, Ice Storms, Floods, Y2K
shenanigans and a deployment to Uganda. After a busy 5 years in Kingston, Mike was posted
to Toronto from 2000 – 2007 where he learned about Army Headquarters, Release
Administration, service with the Reserves as RSS Staff and heavy commuting traffic. In 2007
Mike was given the choice between a posting to Dundurn SK and Comox BC. Having no
knowledge of either one, he phoned a friend and was told to choose Comox and be quick about
it before they change their mind, which he did resulting in a posting there from 2007 – 2010,
during this time Mike spent 6 months in Alert, which bookended nicely with his previous tour to
the Western Sahara. From 2010 – 2015 Mike enjoyed a busy but rewarding posting to Borden
which was followed by a return to the Air Force in the form of a posting to Greenwood from 2015
– 2017. The (almost) final move was to Ottawa 2017 – 2023 where Mike was employed at
DHRIM Ottawa during the launch of Guardian followed by a secondment to the Treasury Board
Secretariat and finally to DGCB. CWO Moore would like to thank all of the great people that he
met along the way for their support and friendship but most of all he would like to thank his wife
Anna who supported him throughout the journey. Mike and Anna elected their IPR to the Ottawa
Valley where Mike plans on golfing, raising his dogs and riding his motorcycle while Anna
coordinates his to do list whilst lounging in the spa. CWO Moore will have a small DWD

Après 34 ans de service, l’Adjuc Mike Moore sera libéré des FAC. Mike s’est enrôlé comme
Adm Clk 831 à Saint-John NB en mars 1989 et a été rapidement envoyé à Cornwallis (avant
qu’il ne change d’avis) pour l’entraînement des recrues à partir d’avril 1989. Après l’école de
recrues, Mike a été affecté à l’UAM Trenton en attendant le NQ3. L’expérience à Trenton a été
telle qu’il a voulu rester à Trenton après le NQ3, ce qui s’est produit de 1990 à 1995. Mike a eu
la chance d’obtenir une mission de l’ONU au Maroc en 1993, ce qui l’a amené à être affecté au
QG de la 1re Division canadienne et aux forces armées en 1995, car il a découvert que
l’entraînement et les déploiements étaient les endroits où l’aventure se trouvait. Mike a été
affecté à Kingston de 1995 à 2000 et a été sur la route pendant une grande partie de cette
période (comme la plupart des membres des FAC à cette époque), occupé par des exercices
majeurs, des tempêtes de glace, des inondations, des manigances de l’an 2000 et un
déploiement en Ouganda. Après cinq années bien remplies à Kingston, Mike a été affecté à
Toronto de 2000 à 2007, où il a appris à connaître le quartier général de l’armée,
l’administration des libérations, le service dans les réserves en tant qu’état-major RSS et la
circulation intense. En 2007, Mike a eu le choix entre une affectation à Dundurn SK et Comox
BC. Ne connaissant ni l’un ni l’autre, il a téléphoné à un ami qui lui a dit de choisir Comox et de
faire vite avant qu’ils ne changent d’avis, ce qu’il a fait, ce qui lui a valu une affectation à Comox
de 2007 à 2010, période pendant laquelle Mike a passé 6 mois à Alert, ce qui correspondait
bien à sa précédente affectation au Sahara occidental. De 2010 à 2015, Mike a bénéficié d’une
affectation chargée mais enrichissante à Borden, suivie d’un retour dans l’armée de l’air sous la
forme d’une affectation à Greenwood de 2015 à 2017. Le déménagement (presque) final a eu
lieu à Ottawa de 2017 à 2023, où Mike a été employé au DHRIM d’Ottawa pendant le
lancement de Guardian, suivi d’un détachement au Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor et enfin à
la DGCB. L’Adjuc Moore aimerait remercier toutes les personnes formidables qu’il a
rencontrées en cours de route pour leur soutien et leur amitié, mais il aimerait surtout remercier
sa femme Anna qui l’a soutenu tout au long de ce voyage. Mike et Anna ont élu leur IPR dans la
vallée de l’Outaouais où Mike prévoit jouer au golf, élever ses chiens et faire de la moto tandis
qu’Anna coordonne sa liste de choses à faire tout en se prélassant dans le spa. L’Adjuc Moore
