WALTON, Andrew (Andy), Capt (Ret’d), CD, RCLS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Captain, CD (Ret’) Andrew (Andy) Walton of Saint John; born July 20th 1957, who passed away peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice on October 11th 2024. He was predeceased by his daughter Brittany and is survived by his wife of 38 years Deborah (Bonnevie), daughter Katlin Lamont (Jason), son Collin Walton, granddaughters Isobel & Abigail Lamont.
Andy started a longtime military career with joining the Naval Reserves at HMCS Brunswicker in 1976 as a cook, he then re-mustered to the Army Reserves with 31 Service Battalion as a ‘Trucker’ in 1983. He remained with 31 Service Battalion from 1983-2017 (with an amalgamation to 37 Service Battalion in 2010). He worked his way from the rank of Corporal to Chief Warrant Officer and then commissioned to the rank of Captain in 2009. He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2017, however remained the Mess Manager of the Barrack Green Armories Messes until his passing. Alongside his military career, Andy also worked for Irving Oil for over 37 years.
Andy was an active member of the community, volunteering with numerous organizations throughout his life. He has worked with the Saint John Salvage Corps, the Saint John Navy League, Milledgeville North-End Lions Club and the Saint John Remembrance Day Committee, acting as the Parade Marshall from 2010-2023 and Vice Chair from 2018-2024.
During Andy’s spare time; he enjoyed camping in their motorhome ‘Lexi’, going on cruises with his wife Deborah, spending time with his children and grandchildren, “fishing” in Millican with his family and going for wings with his best friend Terry. He also never turned down a game of crib; and enjoyed trying to beat the boys at the mess in chase the ace.

There will be a celebration of life held on November 9th from 2-5pm held at the Barrack Green Armories located at 60 Broadview Avenue, Saint John, New Brunswick.
