Peacefully at Almonte on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Jack Smithson, age 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Rachel Gilmour. Much loved and respected father of Robert “Bob” (Margaret) and Beverley Smithson. Cherished Grandpa of Bradley (Marielle), Breanne and Jaclyn and Great Grandpa of Charleigh.
Born December 6, 1919, Jack was a WW II Veteran; a member of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps; Past President & Member Almonte Branch 240, Royal Canadian Legion; Honorary Member Governor General’s Curling Club; Honorary Life Member, Almonte Curling Club; Past Master & Member, Mississippi Lodge # 147; Member of Tunis Shrine; Past President and Life member Mississippi Golf Club; Almonte Citizen of the year 1972.
