LATOUR, Richard John, Capt (Ret’d), CD, RCLS

LatourCaptain Richard John Latour, 78 yrs, passed away at St Catharines General Hospital on July 24, 2023.  Anyone who knew Richard knew he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.  Richard was predeceased by his daughter Trinette, granddaughter Samantha and grandson Edmund.  Richard will be greatly missed but will live on forever in the hearts of many, including his loving wife Kathryn, his daughters Michelle (Frank), Cheryl (Mai Anh) and Theresa (James), his grandchildren Laura, Alyssa (Kaleb), Caleb (Brittany), Rylee and Sophie

Richard proudly served Canada as a member of the Queen’s Own in Cyprus and then as a member of the 26th Service Battalion in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where he earned the rank of Captain.

The military taught Richard the value of discipline and hard work which he then applied in all his endeavors.  Supporting youth was important to Richard and he volunteered his time with both the Air Cadets and Police Cadets.  Richard lived to serve as a bailiff, deputy sheriff, tour bus operator, chef, logistician and CN police officer.  He mentored and supported those that needed help.  He was truly a caring husband, father and friend.

Richard was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved.  His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Richard was unendingly proud of all his children, grandchildren and wife Kathryn and always supported them wholeheartedly.
