KEARNS, Reginald George, Maj (Ret’d) RCAPC

Reginald passed away in his 95th year on January 30, 2017. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Vivian and his sons Alan, Gary and Robert. He is survived by his son Brian and daughters Barbara and Brenda. He leaves behind ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Reg was a Veteran of the Second World War, flying 34 missions over Germany as a rear gunner in a Lancaster of the 427 Squadron RCAF. After the war he worked for Canada Packers for a short time before rejoining the service as an army paymaster. He also served as a Peace Keeper in Cyprus. Reg was proud of his service to his country.

After retiring from the forces he worked 12 more years in the public service. His career took him and his family travelling across Canada eventually settling in Ottawa. He enjoyed his retirement, helping his children and grandchildren over the years, going to birthday parties, having family barbecues, playing with the kids and attending ball and hockey games. He and his wife spent many summers visiting relatives in Moncton, N.B.
