JEWELL, George Edward, Lt(N), Ret’d), CD, RCLS
It is with great sadness that the family of George Edward Jewell announce his passing on 19 January 2024 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. George is survived by his wife of sixty years, Beverly Jewell (nee Huskins), son Michael (Paula) Jewell, daughter Elizabeth Jewell and grandsons Ryan, Matthew, Gabriel and Liam.
George was born 8 February 1939 in London, Ontario. He was raised in St. Mary’s Ontario until 1957 when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a member of the Supply Branch. He served on many ships and bases during his Naval career. He rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class and took his commission in 1987. He remained in the military until his retirement in 1993.
George loved the Lord and was quite active in his church, Forest Hills Fellowship Baptist Churchy, Cole Harbour. He was always willing to help others whenever he could. He was interested in the simple things in life, such as learning to play the guitar and having tea with friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, 27 January 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2: 00 pm at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A memorial service with a reception will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.
