HORE, Raymond William, MCpl, CD, Supply Technician
MCpl Raymond William Hore, CD, born March 1st 1967, died peacefully in Ottawa surrounded by his family on June 13, 2016.
A loving husband and father, he is deeply missed by his beloved wife Terry Hore (Nee Paulson). He is survived by his sons Anthony and Tyler, and daughter Mackenzie. Ray will be deeply missed by his family, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
MCpl Hore was a serving member of the Canadian Forces from 1988, initially as a Regular Force member of the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment (1 RCR) Petawawa. While in the regular force he served in London, Ontario and moved with the Regiment to Petawawa. He was a veteran of two international deployments, September 1989 to March 1990 Nicosia, Cyprus and January to June 1993 Mogadishu, Somalia.
He joined the Reserve in 1995 and did an Occupational Transfer to Supply Technician in 1996. He worked in the National Capital Region for over 16 years. He worked at several units in the National Capital Region, such as the 28 Service Battalion, National Defense Headquarters, Canadian Forces Language School Ottawa, and his last place of employment was Connaught Range Primary Training Centre.
His 28 years of service earned him the Canadian Forces Decoration 2 (CD2) medal, awarded to those soldiers who have provided good and loyal service. MCpl Hore exhibited all the traits of a good soldier. Working diligently at his assigned tasks, MCpl Hore could always be counted on while he remained focused and simultaneously work out any situation expeditiously.
MCpl Hore was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, participating in many rides, in the National Capital Region such as, Ride for Dad, Ride for Fallen Comrades and many more. MCpl Hore would always be smiling when on his motorcycle regardless of the weather conditions. He also had a passion for hockey and loved to play.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date on Saint Joseph Island, Ontario. In memory of Ray the family asks that you raise a glass in honor, of him and the friendships he has made. Cheers, Ray.
