GRELA, Lucjan, Maj (Ret’d), CD, RCLS
Lucjan Grela, age 62, passed away peacefully at Toronto General Hospital on February 7, 2024. He was born in Dolhobyczow, Poland on October 24, 1961. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Lucjan is survived by his loving wife Alicja Grela, their children Kasia Dares and her husband Max, Luke Grela and his wife Weronika, and his grandchildren Adelaide Dares, Joey Dares, Holly Dares, and Maverick Grela.
Lucjan came to Toronto, ON in 1989 with a dream of making a better life for his family. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1996 and advanced to the rank of Major. He was proud and honoured to represent the Canadian Armed Forces on various international deployments over his 27 years of dedicated service.
In his free time, Lucjan enjoyed solving cross word puzzles, camping, and travelling. A devout Catholic, he found strength and solace in his faith, and his commitment to his beliefs was unwavering. Music was another one of his interests, and he enjoyed playing the guitar and dancing with his wife.
Lucjan was passionate about serving in the community and sat on the boards of Copernicus Lodge and the Catholic Family Services Peel – Dufferin. He also volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and St Casimir Parish.
Known for his steadfastness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family, Lucjan touched the lives of all who knew him.
