BURNS Christopher, MWO, Sup Tech

Burns BurnsChristopher, age 39, passed away suddenly on February 26, 2020 in Wainwright, Alberta.  His memory will be cherished forever by his proud military mom, Muriel; his brothers, Dennis (Susan Jerrott), Michael (DecolynneJo Barteski); his sisters, Joan (Glenn MacLaren) and Brenda (John Helle).  Uncle Chris had a special bond with his nephews and nieces, Phillip, Kyle, Aimee, Katie, Colin, Adriana, John and Kevin.  He will be missed by his extended family, friends especially Ashley Morash, his Dominion crew (who knew him fondly as ‘Tiffer’), his supportive military family and his faithful dog, Turbo.

Christopher was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years where he served on various bases across Canada and completed tours of Afghanistan, Dubai, and the Golan Heights. Christopher was a shining light to many and added fun and great laughter to everything he was a part of.  He was well-respected, liked by all who met him, kind, loving, competitive and exceptionally talented at sports.  He was passionate about hockey, baseball, golf and washer toss.  Chris was a member of many military sports teams during his career.  Most recently, he enjoyed being the goalie with the Wainwright Rustlers wearing his no. 31 jersey.  He obtained the rank Master Warrant Officer and was excited about returning home this summer to Nova Scotia to be posted in Greenwood, where his military career started.

He was proud to be from Dominion, Cape Breton and enjoyed his many visits home to see family and friends during Seaside Daze celebrations.  Christopher lived his life fully and we are all grateful for his presence and love in our lives.  Thank a soldier, share a story and raise a glass to our cherished Chris!

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay NS (902-849-4199).  A memorial mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport with Fr. Daniel Boudreau and Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating.  Reception to follow in the church basement.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.tracey.com
