It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Corporal Dominique Béchard, at CFB Borden, on June 24th 2024. Corporal Béchard was a Traffic Technician at 1 Service Battalion.
Cpl Béchard was born on April 22nd 1996 in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. On the 7th of March 2017, he joined the Forces as an infanteer and was posted to the 2e Battalion Royal 22e Régiment where he participated in multiple exercises as well as OP LENTUS. Dom then voluntarily transferred occupations to Traffic Technician and joined the 5e Battalion des Services where he successfully completed his initial training, at which point he was posted to Movements Platoon, 1 Service Battalion. While at 1 Service Battalion he participated in Operation LENTUS during Alberta wildfires, Exercise ROUGH RIDER in Wainwright, and a tasking in the United States of America. Throughout his service to Canada, Dom was always one of the first to volunteer, demonstrate dedication, and always had a receptive attitude.
Cpl Béchard was known for his constant positive attitude, his enthusiasm, and his exceptional team spirit. His platoon describes him as very calm, patient, and easy to get along with.
Dominique was an extremely hard worker, always reporting for duty well prepared, remaining engaged throughout the task at hand, and was always enthusiastic for the next mission.
