BEAMENT, Gerald Arthur, Cdr (Ret’d), RCN, Sea Log

Gerry passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the age of 87.  He was born September 7, 1931 in Toronto and grew up in Orillia.  Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Patricia.  Loving father to Geoff (Caroline Risi) and Alison (Dan Tennian).  Cherished grandfather to Kalin, Sean, Kierra, Dylan and Mitchell.

Gerald graduated from RMC in 1954.  He served proudly for 35 years as a Sea Logistics officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.  After retiring from the Navy, he worked for 10 years with St. John Ambulance.  In 1995 he was promoted to Knight in the Order of St John of Jerusalem.  He was an active member of the Naval Officers Association of Canada, Ottawa Branch and served for several years as the Branch Treasurer

Gerald was an active member of the Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club.  He will be greatly missed and remembered for his generous soul and dry sense of humor.  As per Gerald’s wishes there will be a private service for family.  A celebration of life to be held at Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club at a later date for friends to attend.  For those wishing, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.  Condolences, tributes and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com .
