After a long, valiant battle with illness, on 6 April 2024, Jeffrey Adam Aurini of Hamilton Ontario, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 in the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Edmonton Alberta surrounded by family and friends.
Born on 12 January 1965 he is survived by his brother Matthew Aurini, his sister Terry Giosi (Joe), his son Matthew, his grandchildren Anna, Adrian, Aiden, stepdaughter Stephanie and her son Lukas, Jeffrey leaves many cherished memories as well as countless friends, extended family of nieces and nephews, and other loved ones. Jeffrey will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.
Jeffrey joined the Regular Force as an Artilleryman from 13 October 1990 until 12 July 1997. He then released from the military from August 1997 until November 2006. He re-enrolled from 20 December 2006 until 17 July 2012 again as an Artilleryman. He then was interested in his adventurous side and changed trades to Resource Management Support Clerk/Human Resource Administrator. During his career he spent time in Petawawa, Yellowknife, and Edmonton. During his time in Petawawa, he was deployed to Cyprus from February until July 1993 and then to Afghanistan from September 2008 until April 2009. While in Petawawa, employed with 2 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2 RCHA), he met his wife Karin, and they married 12 July 2008 before he deployed to Afghanistan. Jeffrey had a brief posting with Joint Task Force North (JTFN) Yellowknife and left in July 2012 for CFB Edmonton. While posted there, Jeffrey was employed with 1 Canadian Engineer Regiment (1 CER), Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS), and 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters and Signals Squadron (1 CMBG HQ & Sigs Sqn). In 2021, Jeffrey was posted to the Transition Centre where he furthered his education by accomplishing the Business and Digital Marketing program thru Reeves College.
His canine companions, Daisy, Duke, Rosco, Emma, Lulu, Myrtle, and Samantha (Sam) were all special to him and remain with his wife Karin.
Jeffrey kept himself busy with woodworking and was a member of the wood hobby shop at CFB Edmonton. He was an avid reader of Steven King masterpieces. He enjoyed all types of music and being a gourmet cook. Jeffrey was a movie buff who enjoyed watching the numerous titles he had collected. Jeffrey’s love of his four-legged friends kept him, and Karin entertained for extended periods of time.
His cremation has already taken place at the Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta. To honour his life a “Celebration of Life” reception will be held on 8 June 2024 at 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Junior Ranks Mess, Lamplighter, CFB Edmonton, Alberta for anyone wanting to attend. For close family members and friends from Hamilton Ontario and area, a “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date in Hamilton. Honouring Jeffrey’s wishes, a funeral and interment will be at the Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario pending a date not yet determined. Dates of both events to be released once confirmed.
