ALLAN, James, Herbet, Capt (Ret’d), CD, RCASC
Jim, age 93, joined his beloved spouse Carol in heaven on May 27, 2024 after a brief but sudden illness.
He is survived by his children Glenn (Sheila) of Slave Lake, AB, Brenda (Rob) of Okanagan Falls, BC, and Greg (Aliceson) of Langley, BC. He was Grampa to Meagan, of Langley, BC, and Michael (Brianda) of Victoria, BC, and Poppa to Krista (Jordan) of Edmonton, AB, and Serena (Kyle) of Slave Lake, AB. He was blessed with three great grand children, Cora and Mira of Slave Lake and Henri of Edmonton. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews spread throughout Canada.
Jim had a career in the army starting in 1953 and retired as a logistics Captain in 1979. He moved his family all over Canada throughout his career and spent a year in the Gaza Strip doing peacekeeping.
He worked in sales for several companies until his final retirement and subsequent move to the Okanagan in 1996.
Dad was a devout Christian and with mom they were members of Summerland and Peachland Baptist Churches. He was an active member of several choirs and loved to sing.
Jim was very well respected by all who met him. He had a wicked sense of humor and people enjoyed listening to stories about his army days.
Jim played wonderful boogie woogie and jazz piano and at family gatherings it didn’t take much persuasion to have him play a tune or two.
