DAKS, Colleen Lenore, SGT, CD, FSA, FinClk

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen Lenore Daks on September 21, 2017 at the age of 46.  Born January 20 1971 in Kitchener Ontario, she was the daughter of Candice Joyce Daks and the late Wence Daks.
She leaves behind two beautiful children, Alejandro and Brianne, as well as her loving husband Sergio and mother Candice.

Colleen was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces where she served as a FIN Clerk for over twenty six years of loyal service. Her last posting was with 423 Maritime Helicopter Squadron and JPSU Detachment, Halifax. She was a dedicated professional who served with distinction both as a Reserve Force member and in the Regular Force. She started her career as a reservist with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters in Owen Sound in 1991. She served with Land Forces, Western Area and 20 Field Regiment in Edmonton from 1992 to 1998. She then served with 2 Intelligence Company, Land Forces Command Area Headquarters, 2 Field Engineer Regiment and 7 Toronto Regiment in Toronto from 1999 to 2008.  Colleen transferred to the Regular Force in 2008 and served as the Chief Clerk for the Governor General Horse Guards and the 2 Military Police Unit until 2009.  Her posting to Halifax took her to the Princess Louise Fusiliers, Halifax and then 423 Maritime Helicopter Squadron. Colleen’s passing is a great loss to the Logistics Service and the Canadian Armed Forces and she will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She had a quiet demeanour and tremendous inner strength, and fought every day just to be able to spend a little more time with her family. Everyone who knew Colleen was familiar with her beautiful and contagious smile, her sense of humour, and her strong sense of pride in everything she did. She was a dedicated soldier and a fierce wife and mother, and will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her family asks that you join them for a Celebration of Life ceremony that will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 30th 2017 at the CFB Shearwater WO and SGTs Mess.  Her family has respectfully asked that military personnel dress casually. Memories of Colleen and condolences to her family may be sent by visiting www.coleharbourfuneral.com.
