GREGORY James (Jim) Kenneth, CPL (Ret’d), RCASC

Jim, passed away 13 May 2016 in Thunder Bay. He was born on July 27, 1932 in Port Arthur, Ontario, where he was raised and educated.   He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, stepson Monty McCollum, daughters Tracy Gregory and Brenda (Malcolm) Hay, grandchildren Christine & Jennifer McCollum and Jory & Kohl Hay.

In 1949, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and was proud to serve his country. His career took him to places like Korea, Germany, Egypt and Washington DC among others. Jim married Marilyn (Breckman) McCollum in 1966 and after 21 years of service, Corporal James Kenneth Gregory was honourably discharged moving back to Thunder Bay to raise his family.

He retired from Abitibi Provincial Papers in 1993 and began travelling to Arizona to get away from the cold winters. An avid camper, hunter and fisherman, Jim loved to also be at the lake with his family and friends. At his request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services for family and friends will take place at Knox United Church (1 Shuniah St) on May 26th at 11:00 am; Reverend Marlene Brittin-Walfall officiating; interment at Riverside Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Knox United Church, The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 5, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
