MACAULAY, Joseph Edgar, CWO (1), MMM, CD, Cook, RCLS

MacaulayJoseph “Joe” MacAulay, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant five-year battle with gastric cancer.

Born on June 13, 1956, in his grandmother’s home, Joe lived a life rooted in service, family, and warmth. He proudly served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years, where he was known for his integrity, leadership, and deep sense of duty. After retiring from the military, Joe continued his life of service by volunteering regularly at the local food bank and dedicating his time to supporting fellow veterans—a community that always held a special place in his heart.

Joe was married to the love of his life, Alberta, for 49 wonderful years, peep peep. Together, they built a family grounded in love and laughter. He was a devoted father to two daughters, Heather and Lesley, and a proud father-in-law to Jeff and Aaron. His greatest joy came from being called Papa by his three grandsons, JT, Alex, and Jonny, and by his honorary granddaughter, Payton. They will forever remember his captivating stories, warm affection, and sense of humour.

A talented cook, Joe found joy in the kitchen, often cooking meals that brought family and friends together. He was quick-witted and had a gift for storytelling—his tales, full of heart and humor, were loved by all who heard them and often left his listeners laughing or reflecting with a smile.

Joe was a retired member of an anti-bullying motorcycle club and used his strength, presence, and voice to stand up for those who couldn’t. Joe believed in making the world a better place one small act at a time.

Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, and service. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with kindness and compassion.
