CODE WL (Bud), Maj (Ret’d), MMM, CD, RCLS

With heartfelt sadness, the family announces that following a brief illness, Bud passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital with loved ones by his side on Saturday evening, April 5, 2025. He was 83 years of age. Bud was the beloved husband of Manuela Mueller-Code. Predeceased by his former wife, Ingeborg Rudolph.
Proud and loving Dad of Tristan (Yolanta), Chrishna (Morgan Eady) and Bradley (Caitlyn Ruane). Cherished “Grandpa” of Constantine and Tamina.
Bud grew up in the Ottawa Valley as the youngest of the Code clan. He was sheltered and spoiled by his seven sisters and one brother. He could always order whatever his heart desired from his much-loved mom at her well-known Code Restaurant in Arnprior. Later he enjoyed the benefits of sneaking out to hit some balls during the times she ran the Sand Point Golf Club restaurant while spending the summer breaks at Rhody’s Bay. Shortly after his mom passed, he joined the Army and his new world started. He trained at Camp Borden and in Regina; had a couple postings to Germany where he met his first wife Inge. Shortly thereafter, his pride and joy, Tristan was born. Bud loved the Army and fit right in. He worked his way up the ranks and retired as Major. His greatest professional accomplishment and one of his proudest moments was to receive the Honour of Military Merit from the Governor General of Canada.
During his successful second career in Germany as Military Sales Manager at Delta Airlines, Bud met his second wife Manuela. After six years it was time to move back home to Canada and eventually he and Manuela settled back in Bud’s hometown Arnprior and cherished a dream of a lifestyle in a beautiful country setting on the Madawaska River. Not long thereafter, he was gifted with two more sons.
Bud was a pleasure to be around for people who knew him. He was funny with such a great wit and humour; the next joke was always just around the corner… such a straight shooter. You either loved or hated his military lingo and approach to things and life in general. And for all the ladies who knew him and had the pleasure to be around him, he will be remembered as the ultimate dancer on the dance floor. Making great friends and letting loose came absolutely naturally to Bud. He’ll be forever missed by so many from near and far.
Bud’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family in Arnprior. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning, April 10th from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. A Service to honour and remember Bud will then take place in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock. A reception will follow.
The service will be webcast live for those unable to attend. Click Here
