FROM THE LOG SECRETARIAT

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Major Scott Foote, CD.  On the morning of 17 November Scott was found unconscious with vital signs absent while conducting his morning PT. Unfortunately the attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Major Foote, aged 50, of Carbonear, NL arrived in Jordan in early September as a member of a liaison team with a mission to determine methods by which the Canadian Forces could train our Jordanian counterparts. This mission falls under the broader umbrella of Canada's effort in the coalition fight against ISIS. Sadly Scott’s assignment was coming to a completion and he was going to return in time to enjoy the holiday season with his wife Denise and son Geoffrey.  Scott is also survived by his mother June who resides in New Harbour NL. Major Foote began his military career in 1991 with 36 Svc Bn in NFLD. In 2002 he accepted a class B reserve position at CFSAL and in 2006 he component transferred to the regular forces; remaining at CFSAL.  In 2009 he completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan with Operational Liaison and Mentoring Team (OMLT) and most recently was a member of the 1 st  Canadian Division J4 staff. He will be fondly remembered by his friends, colleagues and co-workers as an excellent mentor whose infectious sense of humour and unflappable demeanor was a steady calming influence. He will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, 28 November 2016, at the Salvation Army Church in New Harbour, NL; interment will occur at the National Military Cemetery, at Beechwood in Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, Denise has asked that donations be given to the Soldier On and Wounded Warrior funds.
