Gord Peacock passed away peacefully on November 5, 2016 at the age of 93 with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his first wife of 52 years (Dorothy) and will be dearly missed by his second wife of almost 20 years (Florence), by his children Jim (Bonnie), Bryce (Helen Walsh) and Chris (Lorie Carson) and by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Gord had a 35-year career with the Canadian Forces (Pay Corps) including a one year stint in Korea in 1952. He spent 9 more years working in Non-Public Funds (Forces) before retiring to the pool and some travelling at age 65. From the 1960s to the 1990s he was an active participant in and thoroughly enjoyed various square and round dancing groups. Gord leaves a legacy of many friends, gentleness, kindness, humility and good humour. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy lives on.
From Cdr (Ret’d) Bernie Grover, Past President, RCLSA:
Gord was an RCAPC old timer. He was on staff at the RCAPC School in
Kingston when I did my instant paymaster course in 1965. He then came
to NDHQ and I believe spent the rest of his career there.
