WHITE, Thomas (Tom) Campbell, RCOC

Thomas passed away on 4 June 2017, age 79, in Ballater, Scotland from a heart attack after his final bicycle ride.  Thomas is survived by his wife, Maureen Campbell-White, children Shelley (Mike) Malyk, Lori (Mike) Govier, Tom (Kelly), grandchildren Jeremy Govier (Isa), Tim (Ashley) Malyk, Chris Malyk,Tommy White, Andrew White, Kyra White and great-grandchildren Tristan Govier, Ashton Govier, Benjamin Malyk and Finnley Malyk.

Tom’s wife, Maureen, is from New Zealand.  Her father left her a home in Scotland.  Tom and Maureen lived six months in New Zealand and six months in Scotland.  Tom returned to Canada on many occasions to visit his children and greatly enjoyed spending time with his great-grandsons.

Tom White was an integral part of Ballater Victoria Week’s (BVW) Ghost Tours for several years.  He had arranged costumes, props, light and sounds, and generally scared the bejeezus out of countless intrepid tour-goers.  Tom had announced that this was to be his last year as Chief Ghost and his wife Maureen said he had been looking forward to reprising the role one last time.  With the help of volunteers who loved working with Tom, the event organizers intend to run the tours this year in his memory.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ballater Victoria Week at

A tremendous character, Tom’s input to BVW and the Ghost Tours will be greatly missed.
Ballater Victoria Week is an 10-day series of village community events which runs on Royal Deeside, Scotland every August, with something for everyone.  With Maureen’s guidance, the BVW organizers will ensure that any monies raised will benefit a cause within that which fully befits Tom’s memory.
