MOCKLER, Richard “Dick”, COL (Ret’d), CD, RCAF-LOG

MocklerBorn on Valentine’s Day in 1930, Richard died at the age of 92 on June 18, 2022.  He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Edith (Zimmer), children Greg (Peggy) and Sharon (Ron), grandchildren Daniel, Megan, Katherine, Richard, John and Julia, and great-grandchildren Patrick and Andrew, sisters Violet (Bill – deceased) and Karen, brother Maurice “Joe” (Darise) and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, the son of Herbert and Berthe Mockler (Violette).  After 34 years of service to Canada in the RCAF and CF, including postings to Chatham, New Brunswick (where he met the love of his life, Edith), Mount Hope, Sept Isles, Ottawa, 4 Wing in Germany, Toronto, Chilliwack, Ottawa again and Edmonton as CO of the Supply Depot, Richard and Edith retired to Ottawa in 1984.

A long retirement allowed the couple to thoroughly enjoy their grandchildren and family.  Richard was a devoted and faithful Catholic and has lovingly returned home.

A funeral mass will be held at Annunciation of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 2414 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa, Ontario on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 1 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Birthright in Richard’s name.
